The area that was burned was all wheat field. This house was at the edge of one of those field. There was one farmer that died. He was plowing the fields trying to stop the fire from spreading.

The house was an old historic farm house. This picture way taken 4 years ago. There is nothing left of the house now. A wild fire that is currently burning(70,000 aches so far) burned the house to the ground. Nothing but a pile of ahs remains.

Charles E. Nelson farm house was the most photographed house in Oregon and it was destroyed by the fire. A few years ago I went with the photo club I was a member and of got some pictures of this house. While we were taking picture of the house a farm hand for the property stopped by and we asked if we could go on the property. He called the owner of the property to get us permission to go on the property so we could take pictures.

Formation flying is not that hard. We all drive in two dimension formation everyday on the freeways. With a little practice you can get the third dimension in control with the other two dimensions. My guess is that the pilots picked a speed of around 180 to 200 knots where both were comfortable.

The amazing thing is that the F-22 is able to fly that slow and not fall out of the air. Most modern jet can't fly that slow. The F/A 18 couldn't do that.

Here are a few pictures I took from my back porch of the airshow. I am impress that a modern day fighter jet is able to fly in formation with a prop plane from WWII. They flew like this for a good 20 min.

So why do people put two question marks at the end of their sentences when one will do it?

So why do people start one sentence without using a capital letter and the other sentence with a capital letter?

Why do people start a sentence with "AND"? Who cares this is not an English class it is a place to share and discuss photos.

Thank you - not up to the standard you demonstrated, but I was trying to demonstrate what should be attainable on the type of budget the OP wants to stick with.

One of the myths commonly heard around here is a variant of "it's not the equipment, it's the photographer". In fact, getting images like yours requires both.

Thank you for those kind words, but I took many pictures of the osprey took to get the one shot. When it comes to birds in flight they are much harder to get. That is when a good camera with high speed shooting and AF that will track across the frame(AI servo for canon cameras) is good. This would also be good for sporting event where there is a lot of fast paced action.

As I said above, from my experience, I believe you are much better off starting with birds perched somewhere, and then expanding to BIF. I get most of my experience with our backyard birdfeeder {our daughters accuse me of "bribing" the birds},

but the goal is walks with my wife.

I don't think there is a downside no matter how you set up. It is all a mater of preference.

There is one more thing you might want to consider. Customer service/tech support from the manufacture. I have heard nightmares about Nikon tech support/customer service. On the other hand I have had noting but great experiences with Canon. One time I called Canon because I couldn't figure out how to use my newly purchased speed flash off camera with my 7D. The tech put me on hold while he went to get the equipment off the shelf so he can walk me through how to do it plus they are in VA, USA. They will even help you if the equipment is out of warranty for no cost. A friend of mine shoots Nikon and he is always talking about how bad Nikon's service is.

There are two types of "birding" photography - BIF {"Bird In Flight"} and BIT {"Bird In Tree"}. For someone in the OP's position, BIT is a good start, and more rewarding than nothing. BIT is much less demanding than BIF is; the solutions from COSTCO {Canon 55-250mm} and B&H {Pentax 55-300mm, suggested by me above} would both be a good start, and within the OP's price range.

BIF/ BIT? that is a new one for me. Very true. However if you get spend a little more you can have a very versatile camera and be able to do what you want to do. Here are a couple shots. One BIF and one BIT.

You can get a Canon 7Dmkll for that, but that's without a lens!!!

Maybe a 7Dmkl with a 100-400L mkl for a thousand??

That should work nicely!!! For a thousand, no cons, just pros!!!
SS

Both of those are great cameras. I have both and love them.
