Nice! I'll be getting my own new old Rolleiflex 3.5F back from Harry Fleenor tomorrow, and I'll be shooting my first 120 roll myself. Black and white though, and I'll be developing my own. Also need to solve the scanner issue - thinking of getting an Epson V750.

Not looking for a cheap one, just not buying one at the most expensive place. Not sure about buying online (sight unseen)

I buy online from B&H Photo, Adorama and Amazon. Never had a problem. You just need to be sure of what you want! :)

I've had the same CF & SD cards for years. They are smaller ones - up to 4g - which I rotate constantly between my Nikon D200 & D300s, and the SD also works on my Canon Elf point and shoot. I always reformat the cards in the camera. Lately I seem to be missing images. Is this a sign I need to ditch some or all of them and start again?

I fairly regularly run the disk check utility (in my case, in Windows 7 & 8) on my cards when I have them plugged into my computer card reader.

Hi, I am new to this forum, but have been thinking about getting an ND filter. Can you recommend a good place to purchase one, that may be on the lower price edge.

Buying a lower quality ND filter is just like buying a lower quality UV/glass protective filter - it's going to muddy the quality of your images. I use B+W ND filters myself but you pay for the better quality. Alas.

Are ND filters really necessary for landscape photography? If so how do you decide what one to get?

I find them useful. Standard neutral density filters for long exposure shots of water or sky, graduated neutral density filters to reduce sky brightness relative to land. I have filters that effectively reduce incoming light by 2, 6 and 10 stops. My graduated filter is 2 stop tapering to 0. It is, as others have pointed out, possible to mimic some neutral density effects in post-processing. I prefer the optical approach. Although of less importance to landscape photography, a neutral density filter also allows you to use a very wide aperture lens full open in bright sunlight, allowing you to make full use of the lens' shallow depth of field. Especially useful if your camera does not have a very fast shutter.

I don't use them all the time, but I always keep my ND filters on hand when shooting. They have made for some very pleasing shots.

Took this picture today at 1/200, f8, ISO 400. I know it is underexposed, but was surprised to see the noise at this low of an ISO on this camera. (Still getting used to the Mark) Is this normal? I did fix it in LR, but was just surprised I needed to (except for my exposure). Thanks for any info/input.

With low exposures, even on the 5D III at ISO 400, you are going to see some noise. This is very mild and certainly on par with my own 5D III at similar settings. I don't think you are getting anything out of the ordinary here.

Actually I wonder if I could use that serial number for CC? Probably not since it's not registered under my name, though.

Yes, that's going to be the problem if there is one, not registered under your own name. You could try, I suppose - all Adobe can say is 'no'!

No the product was registered by someone else on Adobe. I did not register it.

I get you. Then you may have a problem, alas.

You should be ready to go then!

I tried it on an image I took with a too-low shutter speed with a 20mm lens. The shake was not awful, but just barely noticeable. I found the shake reduction worked really well. The over sharpened look can be mitigated by removing the effect from less important areas. Keep it on the eyes or area where sharpness matters and remove it from the rest.

Not a cure for bad technique, but for those images with small movement, it seems quite good.

 That's my experience too. It does not work miracles for badly blurred photos.

Not sure if I have a "valid" CS5 serial number since I purchased it on Ebay. Anybody know How do I find out?

Did you register your copy of CS5 with Abobe? If so, you should have a serial number associated with your account. You can find it by logging on to your account profile.

Does not appear to be available just yet: site is http://blogs.adobe.com/creativelayer/introducing-the-photoshop-photography-program. Then it says: This offer will be available the week of September 16th at the same time we introduce the new version of Lightroom 5.2 (which you can already get). At the top it then says: UPDATE: The Photoshop Photography Program is now available for purchase here. But, I actually got this when I clicked on it: "Internal Server Error." So, I can only guess they don't quite have it together yet.

Most likely indeed. I have a suspicion their servers are overwhelmed. As I was putting up my post, I was downloading a trial version of Photoshop CC to see advantages what it had over CS6 and the download was glacially slow. Got it now though.

I see Adobe have just announced a new Creative Cloud package aimed at photographers for $9.99 a month. Only snag is that you have to own CS3 or a later version to get it. It includes both Photoshop and Lightroom but not the other main programs of the Cloud.

I had been balking at going with the Cloud up until now, but I'll probably go for this.

This offer is now available here:

I just ordered this from Amazon for $35.00. Plenty of room & tons of pockets. I love it!

That's pretty much identical to one I bought in an army surplus store some years ago. I love it too.
