I'd like some critique on this image from posing to cropping to lighting to editing-anything that you can give me to make my next session as successful as possible, I promise to take every piece of critique and use it to my advantage.

Looking good. In #1 & #3 I would move the subject just a bit further away from your backdrop so the pattern there is less noticeable.

I have an incredibly small studio 400 sq ft - so moving away from the backdrop even more is a bit difficult.
The texture you see are done afterwards in photoshop as most of the backdrops are just paper backdrops :)
Thank you so much for the feedback I really appreciate it :)

These are all spectacular! You might crop the final two just a bit tighter would be my only suggestion, it feels like there's a bit of excess of space on the top and sides.
Thank you for your comments - really appreciate the feedback.

Ditto on the excellent, well done, etc. Your question was on lighting & posing and in my opinion you have them both down, much better than most I have seen, so would not attempt to suggest improvement. My only suggestion would be that every shot does not have to be "far away pensive" in expression. For some have them look at the camera or smile or laugh - kind of that "look what I have done" way, as an expression of happiness in growing a baby, or whatever. And, don't forget to include the dad in some if available. Took two to tango and the baby will appreciate it in the future.

Thank you for the comment. I do take photos too with dad and also looking at the camera too-those are normally not my favourite so I only tend to share images-social media etc that I like most- they do tend to be the more pensive images :)

I have been trying to get better with my maternity portraits - with lighting and posing. Let me know your thoughts-what would you change-how would you make them better?
Thanks

The lighting overall and on the head and shoulders is excellant. I assume the reducing lighting on lower body is intentional to de-emphasize?

I was going for her face and the dramatic dress being the focus :)

Hello Maggie,
Loveley shot. I'm no lighting expert but I do like the effect.

I hope you don't mind a couple technical questions.
The background. Was it a backdrop or added in post. Nice affect.
The lighting itself, did you use PS spotlights? Its very attractive. I'm asking because I have just started experimenting with. re-lightingg images in PS and I'm facanated with the possibilities

I added a texture in photoshop to the background
I used 2 strobe lights for the lighting set up

I tried a new lighting position-wondering if it works or is there something you would change?
