At what cost? Better to pay for the repair. My two cents.
I have found that despite what Consumer Reports has to say ... Costco batteries corroded and turned to crap in a number of my devices ... and yes even the major brands can do that they do it less often ..
No more Costco or BJ batteries for me ...
I had a similar problem recently with my MacBook pro ... had the latest operating system ... solution was reloading the operating system ... there is a documented problem with some macs and the latest operating system .. found the solution on line "OSX Daily" where they said reloading the operating system was a solution ... downloaded the operating system to a separate drive and then moved the installer to MacBook when was able to start computer ... also suggest how to do it in recovery mode ..
I found a used lens that I wanted on Amazon Marketplace ... the price was exceptionally low ... I contacted the vendor ... to make sure it was the latest lens, as described ..etc ... I was a bit cautious ... the vendor sent me all sorts of Amazon guarantee stuff ...
As I proceeded he sent me instructions on placing the order .... it wasn't through Amazon ... I was supposed to buy a gift card and send him the card info .... it was a definite fraud ... the email address he used looked like a legit company ...
Naturally I did not proceed ...
I notified Amazon ... no response ...
Notified the legit company and told them someone was using their name ... they were in a totally different business and said that they had heard about it before but couldn't do anything about it ...
Does anyone know of a good MAC program like this?
I have an a6500 and I get more shots but it is usually less than 200 ...
Always have to have a spare battery with me ... also when the camera is not in use it drains the battery ... so make sure you charge it before heading out.
No problem ... I think they are part of Beach Camera .... authorized dealer for most brands

I have been using the A7 for almost two years and as far as image quality and features I have not been disappointed...I don't have the kit lens. I have good images at iso 10,000.
My other camera is a Canon 5dm3, and the images are similar.
Look for the LR drop down for plug in manager. You should find it there. Rather than in the "edit with"
It is firewire 400 only ...
I had to put a black lens coat on my 70-200 for a while.

I have the NEX-7, the sony A7, and the Canon 5DmIII ... the NEX7 is a great little camera and she will not be disappointed by the results. There are aways better, faster, etc. but it is a great little camera with surprisingly good results.
Lots of luck to both of you ...
I keep all my photos on an external drive (backed up elsewhere) and in the catalog preferences indicate that the catalog backup is on the same external drive.
When opening LR from either computer use the backup file to launch LR.
