I actually saw three photos that I really liked yours being one. the other black and white photo with the swing that could hold a few people. And the wall Muriel with the two children standing. I like yours because the way it was made up the tire hanging from the tree the pallet all the branches without leaves and the choice you made of using color or black and white. I don't think a color photo would've had that dramatic affect. And as far as the tire I could see kids standing on it and swinging in as well.

what I'm taking is one camera two Lens 18-55 and 70-300 . and plenty of memory cards.also someone told me to get a ND filter and circular polarize. never worked with filters so that's going to be a new experience. for me..
never worked with a tripod either. and I have to tell you all the tripod suggestions has got my brain going in circles. I'll have to take a day or two to figure that tripod stuff out.
oh yea also a point and shoot camera.
I'm 70 years old not looking to walk around with 30 lbs on my back. this is a vacation I'm going on not a photo shoot. I'm just looking to do tourist things.
I know I'm going to regret this next question., but where can I find out about filters. are all filters for all cameras or are the camera companies selling specific filters.
than you in advance

I'll be going on an eight day bus tour through four states in July And I would like some suggestions on tripods. i never had one and I will like some suggestions on what to buy.
I look them up On Google and they are just too many. It's very confusing I'm not a professional Photographer I don't have their budget..
All I know is I'm looking for one that goes in a case that I can strap around me when I'm hiking around. I guess I'll need it more for sunsets and landscape photography.

Wow 1990 messages you must be a busy guy with that many messages I guess you do speak your mind.
Now Am I a judge NO! do I dislike the contest NO!. do I think a guy with a foam Statue of Liberty head band fits the "government "theme NO.
But this is my opinion and I'm sure the guy who posted 1990 messages has his own opinion and that's what makes this world go round

I usually go out specifically to shoot the theme. even though I might have the same subject in a folder. It sort of gets the creative juices going it Makes me want to go out and look for Something new. I was busy this week so I don't know if I'll get out. I have plenty of courthouses and government buildings But I won't use them. If I get a chance I will shoot the mayors mansion.

I actually like the Barbwire I like it better than the second one you posted I also like the bed and the no trespassing one. But I think More thought should be put into the photos To make it look like more like the theme before we read the caption. anyone can change the words around to make something look like it associates with the government.
Take a picture of Square piece of wood and say blockheads are running the country. It won't look like the theme but the caption makes it so.
As I said I like the photos except for the guy with the green Statue of Liberty thing on his head.
And like someone once quoted a picture is worth 1000 words

I may make some enemies with this post But I usually speak my mind I usually enter the photo contest and I try to follow the thems as close as possible. So far this contest has 39 photos And the theme is government.
There are several photos that don't match the theme to me.
A white bird crossing a no trespassing signs, A guy with a Statue of Liberty headband, A bed chamber , Barbed wired fence. And many others that I don't think fit the theme.
Also a great shot of the White House I like this picture. but he added "crooks work here" in thick blue letters. I like the photos that I mentioned the Bobwire the bedchamber well maybe not the guy with the Statue of Liberty headband but the others are good photos. To me the caption does not make the theme the photo makes the theme
