The same optical principles apply in going from medium format to 35mm. Or from a view camera to medium format. You could consider a 8x10 view camera to be a "full frame" - and everything else is a "cropped sensor". Don't get me wrong ... I love 35mm in whatever form, but it's not sacred.
Bottom line: know your camera and optics and how to use them.

So I have an Olympus E-PM1, so according to you shouldn't exist with it's cropped sensor. But I understand from others with more knowledge, that if I put a 50mm lens on then it becomes equivalent to a 100mm lens. So I'm using a 2x cropped sensor.
