Hi I went to the photographic show as well. Adobe had a huge theatre at the far right of the show, and had running talks on lightroom, photoshop et al. Only problem was one had to book to watch the shows. So I couldn’t attend. I thought the whole show was really good especially the smaller accessories booths. So much to see and mull over. I was knackered after about three hours. Well worth the visit tho.

No noticeable grain issues that I can see so far. However I am careful not to raise the iso too far. I swapped my trusty D80 for the D7000 and am realising just how much more powerful a camera it is. It does require careful setting up and lots of advice has been made available via this forum to help. Enjoy your camera.

There are a number of different posts about this particular problem . Thanks to the hogs I have resolved it with my D7000. As already mentioned the rig, camera and this particular lens are heavy. I shoot using iso 800 and a relatively fast shutter speed and have found the sharpness improves. But the idea that my uv filter maybe a cause never occurred to me and I shall certainly remove it and see if there is a difference. So thanks MT shooter. But also thanks to all you hogs. I love reading the posts.

I love my D7000, so much so I went and bought a second body. It is not a camera for the rank amateur and needs careful setting up. I had focus problems to start with but the hoggers put me right with that. I say go for it. I don't expect to buy another Nikon in the foreseeable future.

You were solely missed yesterday. I am soooo pleased you are back. Thought I had been ejected for some reason. It's my paranoia kicking in

Hi I wrote a discussion about this very subject a couple of months ago as I was not getting sharp pictures. The lens I was using in a 18 - 200 Nikon zoom vr et al. I received a lot of helpful suggestions much of which I followed. However by changing to prime lenses the focussing problem went away. So I guess my zoom lens is having problems. Have you tried using a prime lens? Cheers

The little usb adaptor for the SD card to IPAD works brillantly. I use it all the time. Then Dropbox, otherwise IPAD can get clogged.

Ladies and Gentlemen. When I posted the original query I did not expect the thoughtful, reasoned and educational responses that have been posted. My thanks it you all and it just shows the power of these forums. You have been sooo helpful. I have implemented some ideas already and will follow up on others and ultimately let you know how I get on. Keep posting though as its one way to learn. Cheers

Thanks to all of you for your advice. I will persevere with the D7000 but will install your suggestions. However I will return to the camera shop and see what they say. Who knows they may exchange my body. Cheers everyone

Thanks for your responses. At least it's not me then. What to do next. Perhaps, like JR1, I should just cut my losses and get a different Nikon. It's a real shame.

I have recently purchased a Nikon D7000 and use it with an 18-200 zoom lens. I seem to be having focussing problems in that not all of my pictures are sharp. This is despite having it on auto focus and with the shutter speed high enough to eliminate shake. My previous camera, a D80, was pin sharp with this same lens./
My question to you all is:-Is anyone else having similar problems with this particular camera type?
