OK guys not much of a proofreader

Kidding aside. some people with proof-reading or composing written sentences may have DISLEXIA. A dislexic person is normal or supernormal intelligence and makes writing mistakes. Worth checking if that more than just distraction

Not very likely. Unless there is some way to travel many times the speed of light (impossible according to Einstein) there is simply no place to go.

Agree. And if we cotinue to multplicate at the exponential rate, we'll bury ourselves in our own waste, and perhaps another more civilized human race will evove from the leftover simpler forms of living animaliculae. Perhaps there are other inhabitable places left in our solar system.

If so what did you think of it? I haven't seen it.

I have not seen it yet but I saw the old one Entitled "Enigma" (1983) based on the same story when the computer occupied several rooms before the PC revolution. It was excellent. It might be interesting to see it with the modern movie version.

Is there a horizontal rule of thirds? For example, ships on a river - is it better to locate the ships in the bottom third of the frame?

Not a rigid rule. Just a general principle that generally works well, but if one chooses other composition that pleases your eye, that's good as well.

Honestly, that's its name.

Interesting sculpture. Even more so with the dark cloudy sky. I used to do some welded-steel sculpture as one of my hobbies, but I got a pacemaker implanted and now cannot do it anymore because the magnetic field created by the electric welder is a threat to the pacemaker. Nice pictures.

You're right. It would become a multi-million dollar tourist attraction. It would be great for U. S. businesses - lots of planes and ships heading there. There are already tourist groups going there, but in limited numbers.

I think getting back to normal relations with Cuba would be good for all concerned.

If you read their 'blurb' "Demilked is a design, art, and photography magazine. It is good work, maybe not to everybody's taste, but well executed. To me it appears to be "enhanced reality" which is something that photographers do in many ways, with lenses or selective framing or many other tricks. It's all about creating an image, unless you are trying to create an archival record, and even then it is usually a moment in time captured from a single viewpoint.

These appear to be HDR images to me, and probably a few other techniques, but I see nothing wrong with the end results. I also remember some visits to northern Scotland with amazing light and intensity of colour, without any enhancement from creative effects, just stunning to the naked eye. It wouldn't surprise me that Iceland could offer even more.

I don't like Rap much, nor classic opera, but it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with either.

How do you know what was Photoshopped if you don't know what they looked like originally?

That puffin contemplating the landscape looks "planted" to me. They generally do their "contemplation" at the shore where they get their food, not inland. But it is a nice addition to the composition. The two men standing on the tall rocks look "planted" to me, especially when not carrying any climbing gear, but they add to the composition. Of course, if one admits the concept of "poetic freedom", it would be admissible. I don't want to dictate what is acceptable. Just interested in other members opinions.

Here are some stunning images from an Icelandic site, obviously stunning even they were photoshopped. Was this necessary or even acceptable? UHHers opinions would be welcome.

yesterday, jimmy swaggart says that the bible says that God will restore to Israel a large chunk of several neighboring countrys. I wonder how many others picked up on it, and how the news will be received over there?????????????? reminds me of the time when a noted televangelist said that the jews were going to hell, because they weren't saved.

I did not know who Jimmy Swaggart was and I now checked in the Internet. There is this interesting tidbit in Wikipedia:
<<Swaggart's confession and downfall[edit]
On February 21, 1988, without giving any details regarding his transgressions, Swaggart gave his now-infamous "I have sinned" speech as he tearfully spoke to his family, congregation, TV audience, and finally said "I have sinned against You, my Lord, and I would ask that Your Precious Blood would wash and cleanse every stain until it is in the seas of God's forgetfulness, not to be remembered against me anymore."[10] On a New Orleans morning news show four days later, Murphree stated that while Swaggart was a regular client, they had never engaged in sexual intercourse.[11] The clip of Swaggart's confession was played repeatedly on news and tabloid television programs.

The Louisiana presbytery of the Assemblies of God initially suspended Jimmy Swaggart from the ministry for three months. The national presbytery of the Assemblies of God soon extended the suspension to their standard two-year suspension for sexual immorality. His return to the pulpit coincided with the end of a three-month suspension originally ordered by the Assemblies. Believing that Swaggart was not genuinely repentant in submitting to their authority, the hierarchy of the Assemblies of God immediately defrocked him, removing his credentials and ministerial license. Swaggart then became an independent, non-denominational Pentecostal minister, and Family Worship Center became non-denominational. Jimmy Swaggart Bible College (now World Evangelism Bible College) had lost many of its students by the end of May 1988.>>

<<1991 scandal[edit]
On October 11, 1991, Swaggart, for a second time, was found in the company of a prostitute, this time Rosemary Garcia, when he was pulled over by a police officer in Indio, California, for driving on the wrong side of the road. According to Garcia, Swaggart stopped to proposition her on the side of the road. She later told reporters, "He asked me for sex. I mean, that's why he stopped me. That's what I do. I'm a prostitute."[12] This time, rather than confessing to his congregation, Swaggart told those at Family Worship Center that "The Lord told me it's flat none of your business."[13] Swaggart's son Donnie then announced to the stunned audience that his father would be temporarily stepping down as head of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries for "a time of healing and counseling."[12]>>

I guess he has had a comeback. :)

I have an old Sears table saw with a 1-HP motor, a Craftsman KS55BXFS-352. When I throw the switch, it just hums - and not even a familiar tune.
The power wires are wrapped around bolts and held down by nuts. The nut for the black wire will not tighten when it gets down to the wire. It just keeps turning - probably stripped threads.

It's at least 40 years old, and buying a new motor wouldn't be practical. Any ideas?

Time to buy a new one. With a new motor, you may solve the humming, and next time have something else occur that may cause a serious personal injury. Infrastructures do age.
