I've used the CamFi on the Canon T6, 5dMkII and 50d, all with ZERO problems.

It's useful for wireless remote control of the camera over short distances... up to about 30 feet. But there are other ways of doing that, some of which can be used over much greater distances.
Built-in WiFi is just too slow to be practical downloading large image files in any significant quantity.
For that you need a true WLAN. Canon makes "WFT" modules for some of their more pro-oriented cameras: 40D, 50D, 7D-series, 5D-series, 1D/1Ds/1DX-series.
There also is the Camranger, which have far more range than the built-in Wifi, although not as much range as the Canon WFT modules.... and can be used with a wider variety of Canon cameras. However, the most entry level Canon models such as the T5 and T6 are not among them. You'd need to look instead at an SL1, T5i or T6i/T6s, at least, among the current models.
I'm not familiar with CamFi, mentioned above. It appears similar to Camranger. And, apparently it also does not support T5 or T6 Canon models.
None of the wireless connectivity are terribly fast or reliable downloading large quantities of full size image files.... a wired connection or card reader is much faster. For example, with the Camranger or CamFi, it takes about 5 seconds to download a typical RAW file. In comparison it takes less than 2 seconds per RAW via my computer's built-in card reader (20MP camera.... with RAW files around 25 to 30MP each).
You also mention using these devices in a hospital. You might want to check if they have limitations on the use of wireless devices. In the past, some did as the wireless device might interfere with some medical devices.
