I have raised the brightness of the boat but just a very little
Thanks for your comment. Without the boat it would just be another cloud picture. I wanted the boat to give more of a story. Shrimping with a squall approaching. The boat was selectively brightened already. With the morning sun already back lighting the boat. I did not want to over due with the direction of the light.
I am processing the photo to display in my home any constructive criticism will be appreciated. If anyone has any experience having photos printed on Metal or Glass, please let me know your thoughts and where it was done. Thanks in advance for your help

great shot Try making it a pano cropping it above the center rock. It will be a much more compelling photo
I had the same thing happen to me, We were on the train ride from Durango to Silverton in Colorado. I went to use my camera and it said the card was corrupt. I did not have a spare card. I saw another photographer, told him my problem. He gave me a spare card he had. I think we all have been in a similar situation and would help each other. It is just the right thing to do.
I had a filter stuck before, luckily after many attempts it came off. To prevent the filters from sticking I have used two products. First is running a candle around the threads. This is fairly easy and not messy. The other is a Teflon dry base lubricant (the one I used was made for lubricating a bicycle chain). Apply some on a rag and run it around the threads. Both seem to work for me.
I have that lens and love it. I also have the 18 to 250 Sigma lens. Recently I upgraded my camera from the D5100 to the D5600 Wow what a difference. Yearly I take both lenses to Sigma USA headquarters in Ronkonkoma, New York to have the lens cleaned and any software updated. I had lost the 18 - 250 lens hood they replaced it free of charge. I actually purchased the 150 to 500mm lens there since it was a trade free zone there were no taxes. Back on topic. I asked the Technician that worked on me what teleconverter would work with the lens, his answer was there was not one that will work. Bummer! There was something about the lens arrangement where the lens would actually touch.
If you ever get a chance to be on Long Island and either need a lens or want your lens cleaned and checked look up the corporate headquarters you wont be disappointed.
I happen to be on Long Island visiting relatives. I stopped in at the Sigma USA headquarters to have my 18mm to 250mm lens updated and checked out. While there I looked at the 150mm to 500mm lens. What a nice lens
Before I knew it the money just jumped out of my wallet. I don't regret the purchase. The following pictures are with the new lens. Note this was hand held since I did not have a mounting plate for the lens yet. It at 5 lbs it is a little hefty to carry around all the time. This will be my nature lens.
I worked on it using Light Room. Because it was a jpeg and the sky was blown pretty bad. I had to crop the sky severely bit also was cautious about balancing the picture as well. The result is a pano version of the picture with graduated filters to tone down the hot areas. I did end up with a white line between the mountains and the sky. I am not sure if the processing caused it or if it was already present. I think this may be what you were looking for. If not it is just another version.
Good luck
with adjustments
All three location were nuclear training facilities for submarine or surface craft (submarine targets). Each place had a fully functional nuclear reactor prototype and engine rooms for training nuclear personnel. I was at the one in upstate NY, during the late 60s.
The bottom 10% of my prototype class became river boat captains in Vietnam. Boy, was I glad that I was in the top 20% of my class.
After prototype I served on the SSBN 634 USS Stonewall Jackson patrolling the North Atlantic (many hours of extreme boredom sprinkled with a few minutes of extreme terror (almost sinking, major steam leak, flooding, fires, etc.))
Another lifetime ago.....
I have a d5100 I does have in camera HDR processing. I have only used it once. It requires JPEG not raw. Since I only shoot in raw I don't use it at all. I would rather bracket my shots (at least 1 stop) and use post processing application (HDR PRO) to make my HDR.
I hope this helps
These were taken yesterday as I walked in the park
This is really ridiculous. My son started flying radio controlled aircraft many years ago. One of his planes had a seven foot wingspan with a two cylinder weed wacker size engine. There was no problem with this, it was a hobby. He had a jet plane powered by a battery powered electric fan engine that flew well over 70 MPH. It too was a just a radio controlled plane. At one point her put a camera in a plane and recorded his whole flight. It was still a radio controlled airplane. Then he advanced to radio controlled helicopters, performing stunts. Again it was just a radio controlled helicopter. No problem. One of his friends put a gimbaled camera on a radio controlled helicopter. OMG itÂ’s a drone.
My son now builds four bladed helicopters a quad-copter it is considered a drone, come on. The technology has progressed so far that people are flying planes, helicopters and quad-copters with cameras. You can actually get gear to allow you to use the camera real time with special receivers to fly the device as if you were in the cockpit.
I find the term drone interesting. It was a military term used for unmanned aircraft. A normal person flying a quad-copter is not out to kill or harm anyone. It is their hobby, it is not a drone used for spying or destroying targets. Like anything else there will be people that will use the things for nefarious reasons. I am sure paparazzi would have no qualms using it to catch someone in an awkward sellable situation.
Now why is it illegal to make money with his hobby? He would love to take videos of houses and the surroundings for a realtor. Many amateur photographers use their skill to sell photos they take what is the difference?
