It's a Spider Lily. They pop up in the fall all over the south. Beautiful shot.

Look in the User's Manual index for "File naming".

Alternately you might get a specific answer if you tell us specifically which camera model you have.

As I said in the topic line, I have a Nikon D5100. I have looked through my entire camera manual and there is nothing about naming or renaming files. There is only an option to turn on, off, or reset file sequencing. There's no way to change the prefix or set up a different naming system.

Sharpshooter - I like your response. Don't think it will work for me at this time. LOL!

I did a quick Google search for renaming photo files on a Nikon. I found this posting on one site - "I have 2 D90's and need to distinguish one camera from the other when processing images. Both start with DSC. I called Nikon and they said it is no way to change the prefix. How can I identify the 2 cameras from each other when processing images?" So Nikon said there is no way to change the prefix in the name. I'm not worried about the files on the camera being the same. I delete them from my camera when I upload them to my computer. I don't want new files to override current files on my computer. I also don't want to have to manually rename every file after I upload them. I am currently taking an online digital photography class that has one lesson every day for a year. So I have assignments to post every day and I take a lot of practice shots. Renaming files on the computer is not an option for me. I don't have that kind of free time. I need the camera to give the files a different name. PLEASE, someone come to my rescue!

My camera does not seem to have a file naming option. Under "Menu" there is the option of "Shooting/display." Under that is the option of "File number sequence." Under that the only options are "On, Off or Reset." I can't find any way to rename the sequence. I've been all the way through the manual and can't find this topic even mentioned.

When my photo numbers reached 9999 the camera started over at 0001. I don't want that because it will just give me multiple photos with the same number. How can I change the sequence so that the camera will number them 1001, 1002 etc. or possibly A0001, A0002 etc.? I can't find anything about this in the manual.

I've never been to Long Island so I don't know anything about it, but my favorite photos are 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7.

My solution to moisture protection is to apply a clear lacquer spray, such as McDonald's or Krylon (there are others, as well). They are available in various surface finishes (glossy, matte, textured, etc.) and also provide UV protection on prints displayed in illuminated environments. You can get these from most art supply stores. Most mail-order places won't ship them as they are hazmat. Use in well ventilated area.

Are you saying that both the front and back of the print should be sprayed?

We discovered this huge yellow jacket's nest inside a pile of pine straw bales. Beware of them as fall approaches. I thought their nests were always underground. Now I know different.

Thanks to Joe F.N., Habdab, and nehall. I read the articles and it seems you've all pegged it. I did see a hummingbird moth several times on that tomato plant. I had no idea that was what a hornworm would become. Thanks for taking the time to help me.

We found a horn worm on our tomato plant today. Apparently something had laid eggs all over the horn worm. Can anyone identify what laid the eggs? Maybe a butterfly just thought the horn worm was the underside of a leaf, or maybe it's some kind of parasite.

If you know what kind of paper you want you can probably find someone on eBay selling it cheap. That's what I do. I get deals on Epson photo paper, ink, etc. all on eBay.
