I really like it. Makes me want to know what he's reading. He looks engrossed. I think more of the bench would have detracted from him and his interesting book. Well done.

I use the cleaning fluid you get for your contact lenses. Only need a little and if its ok to put in my eyes I figure its ok for my filters.

As my nephew's little boy would say... file size is yur-elephant as a measure of file quality. (the word is irrelevant)

It's all a part of the "confuse em with statistics, if that don't work, baffle em with BS)

Last time I looked, there were somewhere near 100 different proprietary TIF formats, (correctly TIFF for "tagged information file format), which run a gamut of lossless and specifiable compression.

No manufacturer's RAW is the same as anothers, which is why Adobe Camera Raw has to have a modification for every model of camera added in for every manufacturer.

DID YOU KNOW, that the quality of focus also affects file size, whether lossless or compressed.

Take four pictures on a tripod with a remote, using the same exif information. Control the experiment as far as exposure, camera settings and exact subject. Vary ONLY the focus. The file with the best focus will be the largest file size of the four images. Tested to my satisfaction. It is so, because the best focus shot includes more detail, hence more data.

I have not shot RAW (Raw) for 3-4 years. Works for me. The more you know and control your camera settings, the more you can achieve satisfactory OOC Jpegs. It may not be best, but it is not crippling my photography as much as sitting in front of a computer endlessly Post Processing.

Personal observation, Personal choice. My preference should not affect any of you in your decisions.

Totally agreed, and LOVE that AWESOME photo!![/quote

Me too. :)

Have been thinking of getting some of my photos printed up in to books, hardback, all in the same size / style etc.

Anyone have any recommendations for good reasonable priced sites that post to the UK?

We have many photos on iPhoto, but can not use the Apple photo or book printing options as for some reason Apple won't accept that the Channel Islands exist..the bastards will take our money when we buy an Apple product but won't give us any on line services or support
afterwards..We are part of the Uk but they refuse to deal with us.

Hi. I have used Photobox lots of times for books and calendars. I found their site very easy to use and the books came out great. They are very reasonable. I got 26 pages in book for £20 plus postage, but they quite often have good deals on. You can put lots or only one pic on each page. I have also used Vistaprint but didn't like them much. I wouldn't recommend them. I live just outside Edinburgh, so postage wasn't a problem. Don't know if they deliver to Channel Islands. Might be worth a look. Good luck.

While in Montana, changing lens, I got dust in the sensor. This shows up on the pictures as a circle in the sky and water. I can eliminate by cropping, however, I am wondering if photoshop can fix this, and if so, what tool. Thanks for the help.

It's very easy to clean the sensor yourself. I did it a wee while back. I also took the bull by the horns and cleaned the mirror as well. No problem and clean pics afterwards. Here's the kit I used. Reasonably priced and very effective. Good luck. Visible Dust 1.6x Sensor Cleaning Kit (Vdust Solution and 4 Orange Swabs)

Thank you. I tried cloning but it was tricky and not a very good outcome. Thanks. Vi.

Here is a very quick effort of an entirely new/different background. I'm sure it can be done much better than this by someone who can use photoshop properly - I'm very much a learner.

Thank you so much. Thats brilliant. I really need to learn how to do this kind of thing. Think I'll be getting the books/instruction manual out this week-end. Sorry to be a nuisance but could you possibly post a downloadable version of this. Thanks again.

Brilliant shots again. I like black and white but prefer the colour this time. I think stately homes deserve colour to show them off properly. Do you always use a tripod. So clear and crisp. Maybe its the steady hands of youth. Guess I should have taken up photography years ago. Sigh. Thanks again for showing great pics.

Hi. I managed to blur the background in other shots but didn't manage it in this one and I like this pic. Do any you guys know how I can get rid of it. I have photoshop elements 10. Many thanks. Vi

Import another background into the shot using layers and layer masks.

Thanks. I haven't tried using layers and masks yet. Haven't had photoshop long and didn't even know what they were for to be honest. Guess I need to read the book and learn a bit. Many thanks. Vi.

So, here is an amateurish attempt. About 30 minutes in photoshop. Used spot healing brush, then isolated the subject and applied gaussian blur to the rest.

If I can do this good then someone who is more talented with Photoshop should be able to do quite well.

Hi John. I'm not a pro and haven't done any studio work, just thinking about it myself. I saw this in Digital Camera mag and thought it was quite good and a fair price. Here's the link. Others on here woulds be able to tell you if it would be ok for your needs.
