I can't believe anything other than Nikon or Canon camera's along with their brand lens(s) could be bettered for top sports photography. Question for you: What Nikon would you choose if you couldn't have the D3? (I am surprised it is out of production.)

I guess the Nikon D3s

I have been advised that the Nikon D3s is excellent for sports photographers. So I guess that is the camera I would go for.

To be honest, it's on my website www.jaypics.co.uk but I haven't sent it out to the mags as yet. I don't think they will look twice at anything but the agency's images anymore, It's all down to the money I guess. Same with the newspapers. I can't even get a sports picture agency to take me on.

I know a sports photographer who used nothing but Canon for over 40 years maybe. He was given(foc) 2 x D3's by Nikon and refuses to use anything else now. He swears by them. He's been one of this country's top sports photographers for decades. You learn every day don't you. Even some of Getty's photographers began(wisely)using the D3. It's a camera and a half and I really cannot understand the termination of production of that model. Unless you require video of course.

I haven't sussed out another model to be honest. I have the 2 x D3 camera's and a D2Xs which I use as well, so I'm not looking into buying another camera this time.

Thanks. I think I'll pass it on though, to a student, or a tutor maybe.

I got ripped off some years ago on an e-bay purchase. E-bay are wonderful, on the surface, until you require they're urgent assistance with fraudalance. They even refused to assist the police with the case.

Bought off e-bay, and I suspect your correct. I'll have to keep it and find out If I can get the "number required" I guess. Txs
