I would bet this pond is recycled water. That is a strong water pump.

You're right alberio, there are signs to let people know that it's not a total waste of resources.

Pretty place and shots but an absolute waste of water. In case people don't know we are in a 25 year drought. Lake Mead and Powell are at record lows and Fountain Hills is wasting water in a fountain, a lake and watering lawns. It is impossible to overstate the stupidity of the human animal.

I thought the same thing until I Googled the fountain. Still, I pretty much agree with what you're saying, but the fountain's always using the same water, which, by the way, is recycled water.

Cool you're jets and smell the roses.

Sorry about the banding in the sky, I tend to keep my file sizes small because they were posted on Face Book.

Saturday was such a beautiful day in Arizona, that I asked Pat if she wanted to take a drive. We would search for any Wildflowers that might still be hanging around on our scenic drive to Fountain Hills. She eagerly consented.
The Wildflower part of the trip was as I had expected, with the remaining Poppy's and Lupine fields being now overtaken by those nasty Stinknet weeds.

The trip itself was good as most of the traffic was isolated to the lake and river. Wow! everybody and their kids were out enjoying the floating on the Salt River. Looks like a great way to keep cooled off during this upcoming summer's heat.

We got into Fountain Hills and found the pond park as the fountain was just ending a cycle, so we spent the next sixty minutes waiting for the next explosion of spouting water. Pat found a comfortable park bench in the shade with a nice view of the fountain. I searched around until I found a good spot for photographing the action.
On time and as predicted, the fountain began another fifteen minute cycle of blasting the water as high as 560 feet into the Arizona Blue sky. I got my photos then found Pat as we watched the water until it shut off.

It was near lunch time so we stopped in at a Sports Bar with a view of the Fountain Pond, ordered food and drink and waited for the next showing by the fountain. What a "Blast" it was, we enjoyed our day and hope you enjoy the photos from our day in Fountain Hills.

This looked like a good spot to shoot the fountain, but it would disappear into the tree in the foreground.

The pump turned on and this is just the starting plume rising into the blue sky.

This was a first stage pause before the pumps got serious about this fountain display.

This is the full height, something around 560 feet up. That's Red Mountain in the background.

I changed my viewing angle to catch the wind causing the spray to drift.

View from the Sports Bar as the fountain begins another cycle.

What a view, having our lunch and watching the fountain reach its maximum height once again.

Is printing to metal a good choice for wildlife?

This is the first time I will be using Bay Photo to print my bird picture on metal.
I have read everything I can on the subject and still have questions?
1. Not sure if I should print to canvas or metal for wildlife?
2. High Gloss, Mid-Gloss, Satin, Sheer Glossy, Sheer Satin, & Textured
3. Which is better a floating back which pulls the picture from the wall or just wire hang it?
4. I was thinking of going with the rounded corners and no frame?
I have attached a photo of what I’m thinking of printing.
Like to hear your thoughts and advise

Nice photo hdfilmnoir. Metal is my choice for all photos now. I used to be a fan of canvas prints, but after trying a metal print, there was no going back. After Costco quit the printing business, I scouted around and have been using Printique (a subsidiary of Adorama) and quality has been top-notch, along with free shipping (for orders exceeding $100).

I go with a High Gloss as it really shows off the print, and if you want to show your print to a friend, just grab the print from your wall and walk outside into the bright sun. The print explodes with color and your friends will be totally impressed with your work.

Great photo Jim, hikers don't look like they're very well prepared, no water. Must be a quick outing.

Definitely NOT a Saguaro.
Is it an Organ Pipe??
Beautiful, I think. Regardless of the species!

Nice set of photos, I see few around here in yard's, but not out in the desert. Must be a decorative false Saguaro.

Curmudgeon did an image of ducks and an otter with Generative Fill. I have used Generative Fill for a long time and just recently got introduced to Bing. Here is a couple of images, one with Generative Fill and one with Bing. There is a big difference. The first one is with Generative Fill and the second one if with Bing.

Those are nice images Bill. I think the first image (Generative Fill) is the most realistic, as what could be expected from a camera, while the second image (Bing) looks like an AI. I have been using Bing and it does produce some fantastic images, but they're quickly identified as an AI created image (a bit too perfect).

Thanks joer, I've been using Microsoft Bing along with a few others. Bing seems to produce the best looking results, but it's all frustrating trying to come up with the text to produce the results I'm hoping for.

Hey Wilderness Images those are some fine images of Pony Express riders of the modern vintage; not exactly the "young skinny fellows" called for in the original advertising asking for riders. I live in St Joseph, Missouri where the Pony Express began (and incidently Jesse James ended). There are museums dedicated to both and there is no doubt that both Jesse and the Pony Express have generated more money after they passed than they ever did while they were alive. I also never knew that the Pony Express had an alternate route that took the riders through Arizona, but what's a little "frolic and detour" if its for a good cause. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Thanks for the interesting reply RodeoMan. We're blessed with lots of horse lovers around here and they are always looking for some reason to get out and ride. It's not uncommon to see horseback riders on the streets of Apache Junction and several places still have hitching rails outside the doors, so an annual Pony Express run is reason enough.
