When using my own Nikon it sure pays to get jpg files with RAW too because Nikon's RAW files are unreadable by any other software than their own ...
I usually follow these UHH hosts for the many lessons they afford me. However, this statement is wrong (for PC's) on a couple of levels:
- I have been using Nikon D100, D2X, D40, D200 and Coolpix 5700 for a long time. Always in RAW mode - more than 17,000 pics.
- Also using Adobe products (Photoshop CS, CS2, CS4, CS5, LR1-4,PSE9, 10 an 11)
I have found the Nikon RAW format (NEF) is accessible by several programs besides the Nikon NX variety.
Look at some of the HDR programs, Ardfry Imaging Codecs and even the microsoft camera codec all support the NEF format in one manner or another.
I would say there are a fair number of programs that support the NEF format and the Canon RAW format also.
10 pin connector is not a deal breaker, but would want to find a multi-function shutter release and intervalometer
Folks I have a D200 and am happy with everything but the print size. I wanted to print one of my grandson's photos in a 20" x 30" poster, but my maximum resolution (3,872 × 2,592) produced lousy results. I don't know if moving to an FX body would do more good than going to a high resolution with a DX body.
The vast majority of my lenses are DX, and my other accessories use the 10-pin connector. So if I switch the camera body, I would want a 10-pin connector.
Any thoughts or recommendations?
Beautiful shot of beautiful country!
Great subject, great results! Which HDR program did you use?
Great shots. Can you share your camera model and settings?
Actually the wind was about 10 mph. Thanks it hadn't occurred to me to consider the wind
I was also experimenting with a mono-pod (I'm not sure I like it). The first photo was at f6.3 and 135mm zoom on the lens and the exposure time was 1/750. I had the camera in AP.
The second photo was at f22 and 62mm zoom and the exposure time was 1/60
These just do not look that sharp to me. D200, AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm, 1:4-5.6 What am I doing wrong? First photo has PP, but doesn't look like that helped either.
So here's the deal: I have rented a Zeiss ZF.2 100mm f/2 Makro-Planar for my D200. I want to see if there is really that much difference in the lens.
The plan is to go to the local baseball game (Cardinals AAA affliate), sit down the third base line and shoot away. With a 100mm prime, I am hoping homeplate, third base, short stop and left field are all within the "range" of the lens.
So what's the problem? It just started raining !!! Memphis is 15" behind in rainfall this year; and, it just had to rain on my big experiment.
ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH
Thanks Have not seen this bird in the Memphis area before.
Walking around the lake at a local, city park my wife spotted this bird standing a palm branch. As I approached, camera in hand, the bird did not move. It just stood there while I took it's picture.
Anybody know what it is?
