That provides some free name recognition and publicity for you, you meet his immediate need, and perhaps open the door for other opportunities with him (or other racers.) Seems like a win-win for both of you if negociated right and in good faith. If you get too carried away with legally securing your ownership of the image he may just go elsewhere. Just limit its use for a a nominal fee and hope he abides by that agreement. Form a relationship, not a transactional contract.
Getting your name out there in a positive way is far more valuable than going overboard to protect one image with a lot of paperwork. By definition, it is already your work and getting a copyright does not prevent unauthorized use. IMHO.
