I find myself challenged in organizing my photo's too. I've tried iPhoto (not bad if you have a Mac), Adobe Bridge (pretty easy with a nice clean interface to Photoshop), and Lightroom which I'm currently using. The downside with Lightroom from my perspective is that it takes awhile to learn. Lightroom certainly does a lot more than catalog so if that's all you want to do I'm not sure I'd go there.
I find I keep more than I should and I'll toss 'em later. If I tried to shoot for 100% I think I'd get too uptight. I like going for the moment, analyzing what worked and what didn't, learning, moving on. I have no idea what my percentage is - but I'm sure it's very low. Sometimes I find that discouraging but other times it's enlightening. I think it's good to be out there shooting.
Also agree with the above. I like the water blur you got (agree with gdwsr that I like water to look like water). I was bothered a bit by the tree cutting the image in half - I think that speaks to the clean up the foreground comments earlier so that the subject is seen at it's best

Great shots. There must be a story behind these photos!
Yes... my daughter was in the Peace Corps in Ghana and we went to visit her. Great and interesting trip.
I thought the slave castle doors were very poignent. Liked the color in the washroom and just liked the school room. It was in a stilt village on the water - not sure how much it was really used. I liked the title Watch your step... but perhaps it's also the step not taken...
I had the same problem and finally reached the conclusions offered. I have started a file of skies in Photoshop ...
Looks like total agreement - me too!
Fabulous! I was pretty impressed that I got an Egret with a Frog... nothing like these but I'll post anyway.
Curious as to opinions on these... comments/suggestions welcome

So... What You want your business name to convey? Your company name is a critical part of your overall identity and should reflect something important about who you are. Are your pictures art prints or portraits or ???. Something to ponder. Who you are marketing to? Would this appeal to that market segment? - Affortable, high end, wedding, portrait, art, commercial? I'm guessing for families/events based on the line...
Also, is this name going to be part of your website or just a 'tag line'? I'm wondering about 2 things - the advertising potential (When people are looking for your type of photography will they find you?) and
If this is your name is is something people can remember?
I went through this for a consulting business - it's tough and everytime I came up with something really cool it was taken. GOOD LUCK!
Nice shot! Love the lighting and detail. I've got a number of red-bellied woodpeckers but haven't seen a pileated this year.
Thanks - much improved. I'm inspired to get back to work on these. Unfortunately most are small pictures - so I may not be able to do a fabulous job but if I can make any/all this much better I'll be happy.
Thanks to all! I'm motivated to start working on them and I'll check out that book!
I'm going through some old family pictures and am looking for advice. Any thoughts on using Lightroom or Photoshop to clean up old pictures? Any quick easy ways to do it? The attached are two representative samples.
Amazing shots PipesCJ7! The only topic I didn't see was regarding handwarmers. I'm heading to Alaska in a month and going through a similar decision making process. I'd read that batteries are very sensitive to the cold and that it's a good idea to bring along hand warmers to keep the battries happy (to h*ll with the photographer LOL). Curious if any of you have hear similar advice.
