LOL, there is nothing like religion and politics to bring out the childish behavior in the best of us.

Mine was shot with a Canon XS 70 x 300 lens. On a piece of junk tripod.

Good for you to speak up. If more people would there would be less of a problem.
Thanks

Breed dogs - I wish I would not have seen this. I have a big long speech but it seldom goes anywhere. To keep it simple, and than I will go away; do you have any idea of the number of dogs that are neglected, abused and put down each and every day because of over popualtion, and the very best intentions?

Might not be the same thing but the same thing happened to me a few days ago. It turn out to be dust or something in the camera. Just a thought.

Here are a few examples done in Photomatix however I didn't try to make them look overdone. My attempt was to try and bring out more detail in some of the darker areas. It was fun though.

I have Aftershot Pro and X4. They are both excellent, especially for the money. I have used Photoshop, it is the gold standard. Between Aftershot and LR, I like Aftershot a bit better.

I am curious about Aftershot and was thinking about getting it when Corel first acquired it. Corel doesn't really have enough information about it that I could find to convince me to buy it. So when Lightroom went on sale it got it instead. Plus Nik software works with Lightroom and that was another deciding factor for me. Not sure if Aftershot does or not.
Corel has some good products but they seam to be a little slow when it comes to promoting them.

I am thinking that I phrased my question poorly. I have two issues, really. One is that my 35mm prime is too sharp and I am catching skin flakes and what not.

The other issue is that even though I am using directional bouncing, I am getting pretty bad hotspots in many of my portraits.

I am starting to learn how to use the layers in Aftershot pro. As I mentioned earlier, I saw this great tutorial for PS when they went to the red channel, copied it as a new layer and used it to create luminosity mask to smooth out the skin tones and imperfections. I thought there could be something similiar in X4.

I am posting a problem pic from this weekend and my attempt to correct it. The correction on this one took me about 20-30 minutes.

You might try looking at some of the adjustment layers in PSP and see what you can come up with. I have X3 but haven't used it in a while but, I found that there are a lot of times when much of the same things can be done if you figure out what steps to take.

i am a canon user and i am ashamed of nikon and canon users with this stupid kind of stuff. it's just a choice.

makes me sure wish i had bought a sony or pentax.

seems a huge per centage of these posts are the crap between nikon and canon users and mac and pc users.

pretty close minded.

it's a photography forum, not a "mine is better than yours" forum.

i thought i found a forum that concentrated on photography.

guess i was wrong.

I agree.
Why is it that some always think they are better than others just because of what they have. They must feel inferior. I ran into the same thing for years as a Graphic Artist and way too many times I found that the ones that bragged about what they have were the ones that just didn't quite get it done most of the time.
It's nothing more than a tactic to draw attention.
Whoa! He has a Nikon and Adobie Software. He Must be good.
Geez I came here to try and learn about photography. Not how much better your stuff is.

Very nice. I think Lithia Park is the only place where I have ever seen them. Beside a few other parks that is. I have never seen one in the wild.

Well that's encouraging any way. I ordered the same thing and mine is still on back order. Maybe I should email them.

Welcome Tim. "Southern Oregon" is a little smaller than me stating "Oregon." So I am going change to NW Oregon. I am in Tigard, where are you.
Take care.

Thanks
Most of the time I say southern Oregon because down here things can change drastically depending on what direction you go. I live in Klamath Falls.
