I believe that's just referring to the use of spot metering and which spot it will meter. I was using matrix metering and then changed to center -- then it wouldn't change to anything else until I turned the camera off and back on. Then, with all of the other settings the same as before, I was able to change the metering mode to any of the three options.
Using Tamron 16-300mm. Auto focus mode set to AF-S. AF Area mode set to single point. It let me set metering to center point, but couldn't change back. As soon as I turned the camera off and back on, I was able to change to matrix.
Is anyone having trouble switching between metering modes on the Nikon D7100? Today, I switched over to center-weighted metering, took a few shots, and when I wanted to change back to matrix metering, the setting just wouldn't change. I finally turned off the camera, and turned it back on again. After I did that, I was able to change metering modes with no problem. Do I have a defective camera, or is there something I am missing? Thank you!

Re: Tamron 16-300... I bought it and tried it out a bit. Seems good. But it won't be mine till July 3rd when my wife gives it to me for out 50th anniversary. Same goes for her diamond earings!!!

If you buy a polarizer, be sure you get a circular polarizer. Linear won't do the same job for you. Do you like your Tamron 16-300? I'm thinking seriously of getting one myself.

I agree with what you're saying -- but it's an hour and a half one way -- through southern California traffic. Not a thing to be taken lightly, if you know what I mean.
From the web site ad, it sounds really good. But I'm wondering if it really is as good and helpful as they make it out to be. Marketing people can do wonders with words. Would like to know about the reality of others' experience.
Just saw the ad for the Tamron Tailgate Tour. They will be in San Diego on the 18th, and they were there a couple of days ago at a different venue. Have any Hoggers attended one of these? I like Tony Northrup's Lightroom book. Lots of videos accompany the book, so I can watch a teaching on the particular topic I'm interested in. Practical, down to earth. I'm a big fan of his.
