Robert Mitchum died on the same day as Jimmy Stewart. Stewart was doing Campbell Soup commercials, while Mitchum was doing commercials for beef.

Nothing heard from Jimmy Stewart, but Mitchum said that even though he had lung cancer, he would prefer to keep on drinking and be drunk until his death.

Ain't that wonderful??!!!!!!!!

Disrespect for those you might have voted for? Sorry that you DID vote for them? Hardly. These were our Leaders, and you must accept that.

The QUEEN is doing fine, and I also hope little Charlie does not make it to the Throne. God Bless America and the Queen of England! She does her job very well!

Hi, I just responded to another question regarding cameras to take to the Amusement Parks.

Again, for great photos and small size of camera, I would recommend the Panasonic DMC-SZ7! What a great little camera, with a Leica lens and some 14mb of pixels and another 10X of zoom! It will fit in a pocket or on a belt loop camera case.

Hope this recommendation helps . . . . Gary

Experience aside, I must recommend the Panasonic DMC-SZ7!

For the money and for the quality . . . I recommend.

Hey Folks,

Don't expect that you can take a full-deal DSLR with lenses on an amusement park ride! AND DON'T! You will subject your camera to G-forces and perhaps water penetration and other conditions beyond your control!

I have been accelerated, decelerated, wetted beyond expectations, heated above human expectations for survival, and sweated in horrible sweltering conditions for up to 2 hours in line for a 3-minute ride!

Don't take your DLSR along with you on any of these rides. Gosh, either stay off the ride and take pics or give the DSLR camera to someone you trust.

Instead, take a pocket digital camera along with you on the ride. I use a Panasonic DMC-SZ7, that I wear on my belt and can use anytime I need. With some 14 mp's, a 10X Leica lens, I can take some great pics; all contained in a waterproof belt attached thing-of-a-majob.

Love you other UHHOGS,

Gary

Good grief! I am completely amazed and quite satisfied with my new Nikon D5200 with the kit 18 - 55 mm VR lens and the optional 55 - 300 mm VR lens package that I got from Amazon! What an amazing camera and lens(es) package for about what I paid for my last Nikon film SLR, the Nikon N8008S with a Tamron 28 mm - 200 mm lens, plus a Sigma 90 mm macro job. . . some 20 plus years ago.

Except for premium glass, I thought I had one of the best cameras around with the N8008S, and with the huge Nikon SB-25 Speedlight, I could take most any type of flash, bounce, or fill-light situation! And I did! Amazing results!

The N8008S took over from my mid-'70's Canon AE1-Program with the standard 50mm plus a Tamron 28 - 200 mm zoom, and even before, from my early '70's Canon AE1 with the standard 50 mm lens. Wow! How technology has changed . . . even though I think some of my photos taken back then could compare to those I take with the new camera(s).

I just did not have as many options as today's digital cameras allow. I had film speed and/or color, depending on what kind of film I chose at the Drug Store; I had aperture and shutter speed; or I could let the built-in match-needle job tell me when it was optimal to take the shot. I could screw around a little bit either way with one of the three options and see in about a week how the photos came out when I retrieved them from the Drug Store.

Today, I just grabbed ahold of the old Canon AE and the AE1 with the old lenses attached and then the N8008S with the 28 - 200mm lens. Gosh, How heavy and really clunky compared to the D5200 with the 28 - 300 mm lens! (HEY, All three are cleaned and ready for new film and batteries to work!). The D5200 package is really much, much lighter and easier to carry around one's neck than the cameras of old.

I guess that is why I waited some 20 years to get a DSLR. No, I am and have been a fan of digital, but in my pocket, I've been carrying a Panny DMC-SZ7, that gets a lot of workout on my job; and then I upgraded from a Sony DSC-H9 (wonderful results) to a Nikon P-510, that I have yet to use to it's full capabilities. Pics so far from the P510 are outstanding!

See, for all my advice is worth, get a camera you think you will stick with for some time to come. Don't get excited about pixilation (back in the 1950's we might have thought this was something else). Most cameras have plenty of pixels for an 8 X 10 enlargement. Get a good camera with plenty of great reviews that you can see when you google some seller like Amazon. Get a camera that you can afford and then look for the BEST GLASS or lenses that you can afford.

A fixed lens (one focal length) with a very low aperture is usually better than a zoom lens of varied apertures. A fixed focal length lens at the 1.4 or 1.8 or even 2.8 will usually outdo ANY zoom or kit lens you get with a camera.

Enough is enough. I have said enough. I hope Sarge will keep sending the jokes. Heck, the jokes are the best part of UHH!

Love to you all, Gary in Destin, Fl

10" - 12" Scopes are very affordable, now. They will provide you with years and years of viewing opportunities, especially under DARK SKIES. Remember, the larger the aperture of the scope, the more light it will take in; thus it will ALSO take in light pollution and lesson the contrast on deep sky objects to the point where they are overwhelmed by the pollution, and a bigger scope won't show them any better (or at all) than a smaller refractor or dob.

Oh well, head for the Country . . . .

Hey Eugene,

I have always kept my scopes inside the house, in my office. I would never store one outside without humidity and temperature control. The dust that may build up on a reflector or dob is okay and it does not hurt the image.

After a while, a few years however, you might want to take your mirror off and RINSE (not scrub) it off with some pure water.

Scopes I have stored in the garage have suffered from mold and mildew.

Just my thoughts.
