Sorry guys. I'm using a D7000. Problem still happens occasionally.
Thanks y'all. I have the d7000. I will change settings. I am using sandisk and pny. I believe these are good ones.
I've always used two cards in my camera but only have pictures on card one and used card two for overflow. I wanted to switch cards and found that card two produced an error in slot one so I bought new cards. New card in slot one still produces error unless a card is in slot two at same time. Does the camera HAVE to have two cards at all times for card one to work?
Thanks everyone. I will try and try again.
I have the sb700. It has only been used a couple of times but I've had it a couple of years now I guess. Took it out the other day and it would not come on at all. Put in new batteries, charged old ones...still does not work. What could have happened since it has been used so little??? Is my only option to send back to Nikon?
Got the 55-200 because I thought double my reach would be enough and it was$150. While still looking through the viewfinder immediately after shot , the picture moves/jumps. Don't really know how to say it. Just weird. [quote=coco1964]What happened to the 70-300 refurbished for $300?? With
the 70-200, refurbished it is new and not unusual for it to be a little stiff in the beginning give it time to loosen up. I have the 2.8 version, non-VR and shoot handheld all the time. On the D7000 just push the SS up a bit until it acts as your VR and adjust your ISO. With a 3.5-5.6 lens you're not going to have much luck shooting in low light. Fri night I'll be shooting a night time baseball game with D7000 and 70-200, 2.8 and will be hand holding it. Not sure what you mean when you say it moves when you zoom out---is the lens moving or are you moving the lens from shaking?? If you're having a problem with the weight you'll never be able to hand hold the 2.8 because it's much heavier because of the extra glass........[/quomte]
Keeping in mind it is refurbished -by nikon
ok. So I bought the 55-200.(not the 2.8) It's not as smooth as my "kit". But you get what you pay for I know. That being said..It seems like it moves when I take a shot zoomed out. Is that normal? And is it possible to get a really clean shot handheld or am I expecting too much???
Thanks for all your replies. Cant wait to get the new lens. Got free 2day shipping. yay!
Thanks. I did look at some of the reviews. I chose to go with a refurbished nikon 55-200. From the Nikon store. I tend to over analize everything so I'm glad I finally made a choice!

I don't consider myself a photographer. I just take pictures of family and their sports. My first and last dslr is nikon d7000 with 18-105 kit lens. I need further reach for certain situations- baseball, football. Anyway I know I spent a lot on the camera but don't want to invest a lot more for lenses. Here's the question...I can get a REFURBISHED nikon 70-300 for around $300 or a NEW sigma for about the same price. Which would you buy?
Thanks for replies. Wondered what monitor calibration was for. Do have membership at Sam's and do use srgb. Will consider options. Don't want to print myself. Ink would get pretty $$
When I look at the pictures I have taken on the computer monitor, the clarity and color look great but after sending them off to snapfish or shutterfly I am a little disappointed in how they look. Color is not as good or as clear. Any suggestions? Is it from sending by internet, the company itself,...?
very few shots make me say "OMG"! Absolutely georgeous!

Did a group of 25+ headshots on Tuesday - here are just a few.
Lighting was: Main is camera right- White Lightning 1600 in a PhotekSoftlighter. Camera right (and behind the subject) accent is an Einstein in a gridded 12x36 Creative Light softbox. Hairlight (camera right accent) is an Einstein with the standard reflector but with a 20 degree honeycomb grid.
In front of the subject and to camera right is a 42" silver reflector and on the table in front of them is a silver/gold reflector.
The lighting here is a bit flatter than most portrait work, but since these go on crappy paper for business cards or brochures, I do not want the shadows to dark or they can go "muddy."

I have recently bought an sb700 for my d7000. It makes a noise when zooming(the flash, not the lens), unless the built-in wide panel is pulled down. Is this normal? I don't remember hearing that noise the first couple of times I played around with it.
