I love my A77 and have invested in a wide range of lenses most of which I bought used either from ebay or Adorama used. My lenses are SAL1118 (11 to 18 MM), SAL1855, Minolta 35-70, DT 1.8/50 and the big boy SAL70400G. Oh and just for whatever a 2x teleconverter. The DT 1.8 I got off ebay for $100 and it is excellent. Everyone told me I must have a 50mm prime and now I agree

I have two Fuji "super zooms" The first one S100FS as well as the HS20EXR both are excellent cameras for the money. Fuji lenses are great. I think a good way to choose a camera is to identify the features most important to you for the type of pictures you like to take, then choose the camera that best fits those needs. None of them does everything well unless you are willing to go full frame and spend all your savings on lenses! A bridge camera makes a great traveling companion light reasonably priced and easy to pack.

Elements vs Lightroom?

IMHO, these two programs do not have a competitive relationship. They are to be viewed as companions.

Lightroom -- It excels at managing and categorizing your photos; it offers a fully featured Raw Converter; you can use it to do most of your photo processing. However, to be fair, it should be pointed out that in Photoshop Elements 11 Adobe has raised the Organizer another notch. Now this module is much more automated. Also, PSE11's Raw Converter uses the same process as Lightroom 4's Raw Converter (2012 Process). The only downside? Still it doesn't have as many features as the one in Lightroom 4.

Photoshop Elements -- If you are into creative/graphical/special effects, this program is your best friend: textures, layers, text, graphics, fancy filters, and so on.
Elements vs Lightroom? br br IMHO, these two prog... (show quote)

I fully agree with this assessment. Lightroom provides tools to enhance the artistic quality of an image whereas both Photoshop CS and Elements are more for the technical or creative processing such as group photos, outside the box etc. Also Elements has a much bigger tool box of selection tools than does Lightroom. I have both but the organization of Elements suits my brain better then does Lightroom

A friend of mine gave me an image and asked if I could restore it. It was to big to scan so I photographed it using HDR then merged it in photomatix. The original is very dim and the contrast is vey low so the image resulting from my efforts is also poor. I know how to deal with cracks and scratches as well as other enhancements but my minimal skills fail me here.

All assistance is appreciated

The real question is what would Ansel Adams say about this. IMHO he would jump on the digital camera as fast as he could. As my old daddy would say it is the archer not the arrow that finds the target. Better cameras do not make better photographers. They merely provide more opportunities for either crap or excellence.

Are you sure you mean a teleconverter as in the TRUE sense of converter between the lens and camera or one that screws ON the lens

No it is a true telconverter that fits between the camera and the lens. It is Quantaray 2X autofocus that I got on ebay

I recently purchased an 11 to 18mm wide angle lens to use with my Sony a77. I already owned a 2x teleconverter made by quantray that has autofocus. I was amazed at the additional field of view with the 2x attached it appears to have added about 30 degrees when comparing one image without the 2x to one with it.

I really did not know what to expect but I sure did not notice any degradation of the image quality.

All comments are welcome

I just bought the Sony SAL70400 from Adorama used section 1-800-223-2500 I saved $700 off new price. Lens came in original box, carrying case and both end caps. Can't tell it from new. Many of their used lenses come from their demo section or back from trade shows.

Anyone have a Sony G lens? I am thinking about a SAL70400G. A little expensive but I am not really happy with the SAL75300 kit lens. Comments please

Been trying HDR with landscape in situations that have both hard and soft edges as a means of getting broad tonal ranges as well as lots of texture. Comments as always are welcome. D

The dog with the ball is the best example of out of the box I have ever seen! I play with this feature but now have to set my standards a little higher.

The appreciations of the USAAF bomber crews during WW2 are well merited. As a Brit I would like to add a word for the UK and Commonwealth Bomber Crews during WW2. They suffered very high casualty rates and no doubt many of them had equally hideous experiences.

Amen to that without the cooperation between the RAF and the 8th Air Force success would not have been possible in time frame that it was. They worked together each taking on bombing missions based on how to best use their resources. A little known fact is that most of the USAAF fighter bases were former RAF bomber bases that were turned over to the 8th Air Force

An amazing story! Another tribute to the aircraft/crews of the US and the punishment they took and survived!

Just finished reading the book 'A Higher Call' by Adam Makos a story of an American 2nd Lt Charlie Brown and 2nd Lt Franz Stigler a pilot of a German Messerschmitt who flew along side Lt Brown's crippled aircraft and did not shoot it down though he had the ammo to do it..then they reunited 40 years after the war as brothers. The book is riveting!

Me to! The book was so well written I learned a lot about the Luftwaffe. This book destroyed a lot of myths about the German Air Force during WWII
