If you're doing it for you and if you like them that's all that matters, but Since you asked for an opinion I'll give you one I'm not a big fan of the deep blue water
Christmas is acoming and my better half is looking for a copla of these drives for her pics. As wildlife photographers we tend to accumulate a large quantity on our sorties into great outdoors, especially her. She tends to shoot 2 or 3 more than I. In fact on our latest trip to the western Wildlife Refuges she came home with over 15,000 snaps!! So could youse fine ladies and gentlemen give me some suggestions on what are the better ones. I contemplated on going with external ssd’s but to me the prices are a wee bit too much. The average price of over $200 for a 1T and close to $400 for a 2T is a bit much. Especially when you can get a regular 5T for less than $200. Hell, for the price of 1 1T WD Passport @ $250 (on sale for $230) I can buy 2 or 3 regular drives of the same size. She’s at present a Mac Lady running about a 3 years old one so something good with this system would be necessary. So I’d appreciate some ideas on some reliable suggestions. Thanking you

I have a three-year-old Mac using a nikon which is almost 21 megapixels. And shoe jpeg basic and raw And stored approximately a 160000 photos on a Western Digital 4TB drive Of which I have 2 And 110TB Western Digital they've worked well for me but to upload the 10TB drive from scratch take some time
I am looking for advice on how to find the North Star,Milky Way, and other constellation for photographing, And not being all that Knowledgeable in this area I understand the milky way is only visible in the Northern Hemisphere part of the year yes? I live in Other California Also suggestion and advice on how to shoot the star trails a the world turns looking at the North Star time lapse length of time to open shutter and frequency etc. Thank You
In response to lesdmd, I have a nikon D 500 and there is a focus delay Setting/function where by I can set it for say 1 to 5 seconds and while panning or scanning should I come across a telephone Pole, car, person whatever while shooting a bird or moving object it will delay refocusing while holding down the BBF for the set amount of time, thus not losing the original/ intended targets focus.
I don't think it's a number at all but in typical hog fashion we all have to chime For the umpteenth time And express our point of view right?lol.myself Included lol.
I'm curious what if they the wrong font or font size will that chaned a micro into a macro or a Mini into a maxie? But it really doesn't matter because I'm taking my toys and going home to my mommy so naner naner nsner. Liar liar pant or is it pants on fire. Do we go with the correct use or the common use? Ygar.
Olive welcome to the hog, and just a heads up this is a mild conversation hope your skin is thick, patient are long and your tolerance for intolerances is ok. O and I hope you have a lot of grains of salt lol.
I have the D 500 and use the 18 to 300 Nikon And love it. I also understand the 18 to 400 Tamron is nice and both would cover just about anything and everything you mentioned. But of course there are many other lenses made for many other reasons and specifics but for an all around lens the 18 to 300 works well for me. I also have A16to 80 and A150 to 600 Tamron because I enjoy birding.
I'm on the "Tails" side of Brian's coin toss. I say if you want to get into Astrophotography, get a Go-To mount right off the bat. That's a mount you could use now, and as you progress with telescopes. (Because you will sink into the black hole, once you start... )
Eventually, you will want to get away from DSLR's and into real astro cameras.

I looked the 2 tracking systems up online and I think for an extra 150 bucks or so I would go with the newer version. I see where it was also mentioned that eventually I should get away from the DSLRI read something about a cannon astrophotography camera what's the difference?
I have a number of questions concerning astrophotography lenses equipment etc. I presently have a D500 and will eventually go to a full frame, but for now my question are in regards to my D500 and equipment to buy for astrophotography. I have a Tamron 150-600 G2 5-6.3 a Nikon 18-300 3.5-6.3 and a Nikon 16-80 2.8-4. My questions are as follows. Should I buy a faster lens 1.8/1.4/1.2 prime 20MM or larger 35MM 50MM or other Or would it be better or just as good to get, And excuse me but not sure what it is called the mechanisims used to rotate with the earth/stars. and or any and other considerations I am may be missing.
