I like this a lot, Matt. It has a very serene feel and is well done!

Thanks Carol. I am not happy with the glow around the couple. If I ever learn PS and layers, I will come back. Thanks Matt

I've been following this pair of swans for several years. this year they lost all 7 cignets early on in the season. It was soo sad. I've left them in peace for most of the summer because they looked bedraggled. However they've bounced back and I found them at the end of the pond yesterday. This is a HUGE crop and I was pushing the 100-400 lens for all it was worth, so the photos are not anywhere near as sharp as I would like ( a longer prime will be on my holiday wish list) also I have yet to trouble shoot the problem I have with not blowing out the whites with these birds and or ending up with gray feathers. I use auto white balance, if you have a tip that hasn't registered with me, please feel free to share. Please use the download.

These are lovely. If I had taken them, I would be very satisfied. Well done. Matt

Found this Mute Swan family last spring while bass fishing. The evening hour was great for some of the color saturation.

These are gorgeous, I wish I had taken them. I enjoy b&w and love the conversion you did. Great tones. Well done. Matt

I used the basic sliders: clarity, black, white etc. I also
used a little vignetting and slight additional burning on
the corners.

Thanks. I appreciate your response. Matt

I always enjoyed shooting B&W (and Color for that matter..) with Twin Lens Reflex cameras. So lately, no longer having a Rolleiflex, Hasselblad, Yashica-Mat, 330 Mamiya, or such, I experimented. With my old (!) Lumix GF1. With a top mounted EVF that is articulated to mimic a waist level viewfinder. The camera and lens combination (an adapted Minolta MD 28mm F 2.8) have no Vibration Reduction or Internal Stabilization, so that adds to the experience!

Ciao!

I like the first for its soft tones and range of tones. I would have preferred a little more sharpness on one of the buds to make it jump out. For me, the photo could use more contrast, but I am a fiend for blacks and almost hang mine in crepe. Very nice experiments. Matt

That white spot 1/3 from the right on the horizon is the setting sun with a small cloud above it; the perpendicular line 1/3 of the way from the left on the horizon is the Provincetown Tower, 20 mile away. Honestly.
I don't know who the couple is. I also think I put too much of an exposure increase around the couple, but I didn't know any other way to call attention to them. If you know how, feel free. Matt

I have no idea but it's a good shot, Matt!

Thanks. General consensus is that it is a line. Matt

As a former merchant sailor, we'd call that "line". Big mooring line is "hawser". What land lubbers commonly call "cable", we'd call "wire rope"; "cable" carries electrical current, not mechanical load. Maybe others have different terms.

This posting has been an education for me, an enjoyable one. Thanks. Matt

Many thanks. These first steps are easy; the next will be more challenging, I suspect. Matt
