This seems to apply here, one of our children quoted an old saying about our grand daughters and their horse back riding skills, "It is surprising the harder they work and practice the luckier they get" Add work and practice to the equation.

I probably have been carrying the camera as you described. The image in the viewfinder is clear and normal. It is just the information bar that grows dim in the extreme light and that corrects itself when I move into the less severe light. I will try your sugestion. This is only a problem when using in the manual mode. Thank you for your reply.. joe peva

I have experienced a problem recently with my new Nikon D 90. When shooting at the beach in the extreme bright sun the infomation bar at the bottom of the viewfinder becomes so dim that it is very difficult to read times. When shooting mauual I find myself guessing and using auto as a backup.
I have not found anything in the users manual that indicates an adjustment that can be made. Is there an adjustment or a trick to overcome this, or is this a problem that I live with.
