Great! I'd like to have the only silver one.

It would not be only silver. It would be black with a silver top.

My last MacBooks have all been 13" models, from the white plastic MacBook to the latest (as of that time) MacBook Pro. But three years ago, I decided to get the 16" model and glad I did. I only got "middle" of the three configurations, with 16 GB of RAM, figuring I can always add more later. Why pay Apple several times more than you can get it on your own? Same with the iMac 27". Base configuration as far as RAM. Cheaper to add more later.

I don't think you can add more later. That used to be the case but not any more.

Then why did you put down people that use film.

Apparently you are so tightly wound that you don't recognize humor.

I am going to get a MacBook to use for photo editing when I am away from my main home. Should I get the 16 inch pro or is the 14 inch pro large enough to use Lightroom and ps with. Also, is 16 ram enough or do I need the 32 ?

Go big or go home.

Tony showed pictures of the upcoming Nikon ZF last night - pictures from Nikon Rumors. He thought it was a big mistake for Nikon to be offering it in black and only black. This was designed to be a retro camera, so it should be available in silver. Maybe that will happen. After all, it's not like they would have to change the mechanics or electronics to offer it in silver. I might buy a silver one, but I certainly wouldn't buy a black one.

I think you are forgetting this is only a rumor.

Just had a thought (ouch that hurt) I wonder whether our law enforcement agencies will have to revert to film photography for forensic purposes? With AI being able to create almost anything and smarty pants computer techs being able to change even the basic exif data of a photo how will the courts be able to accept photo evidence as true? A sicfilm negative/positive though cannot be changed without obvious damage and if the date can be embedded no-one can dispute its originality!

Forensics can determine if a digital image has been altered so SOC will still work.

I am considering the Hasselblad X2D for crop factor and gear reduction. 100 mpx quality can make it feasible. I see Lieca is moving to a fixed lens with one or more of their models now, and marketing the idea of the crop factor vs an interchangeable lens is now something well beyond the old digital zoom of the past in fixed lens camera's.

I guessing as technology advances in camera sensors, interchangeable lenses will eventually become museum pieces. I realize sports and action is a whole different ball game but...

It is interesting non the less and wonder if anyone can comment on this in as an option in their professional work...

If you shoot an image with a 100mm lens and crop the image to 50mm it does not render the same image as a 50mm lens.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the Nikon, Nikkor AF-S 24-120 1:4 G ED, N VR lens. I found a good condition used one for $379. Is this a sharp lens? I want it for a general walking around lens, mainly landscapes and cityscapes.

I have that lens in mint condition which I bought earlier this year. I shoot it on my DSLRs and my Z6. I paid $360 for mine and memory serves me I bought it from a hogger. It is a beautiful Pro level lens and renders beautiful images.

I bought a FTZ adapter for my Nikon Z which works with all my lenses except My Nikon DX AF-S lense which I posted this morning about.
Well now I put the lense back on my DLSR and all I get is a black view.
What did I do and can it be fixed?.

Take the lens cap off.

I have been asked to do a portrait photo of a famous retired Navy Captain and author. My experience with portrait photography is extremely limited. The session will be at his house. My camera is a Canon 5Diii with a Canon 24-105 1:4L I have black, white and green backdrops and photo lights, but all that stuff takes a long time to set up so I thinking of using only flash. I believe the picture will only be used on a website. I would appreciate any advice.

If they want it to be really nice portrait better hire a professional.

I also found this:
"Let's start with the most popular places to share images on the web. Imgur, Facebook and Instagram all scrub all metadata from photos upon upload. You don't have to worry about leaking metadata when uploading images to these sites."

It's easy to check, upload an image containing the metadata, then download it and see if the metadata exists in the download.

They may scrub all the data but they still have it.

Can anyone recommend a site that has either free or low cost videos with good instructions for someone starting to take photos?

The daughter of a friend is having a birthday coming up and I'm letting her have my Sony a6000 (in addition to her birthday present). She lives up in northern Manitoba and has internet access. She's a teenager, but it pretty sharp and artistic, and is interested in photography.

Thanks, Dik

If she's a sharp teenager she'll figure it all out long before you do. LOL

For those with 2 card slots in their cameras what is the purpose of having one doing JPEG?
I have found that if I want a backup I want it in raw as well.
If I need to immediately send a photo out I just send it through to my phone and share it.
Otherwise if I am going to download it to my computer there is no rush and can take the time to do whatever PP I desire.
So what value is JPEG on the second card?

You do what you want to do and don't worry about how others do it.
