I thought that I had checked the correct box. both of these, I checked store original and hit add attachment. what went wrong?
I did check store original.
Wrong format? Image too large (I think there's a size limit to uploaded images).
I think they need to be jpeg not raw or Adobe files?

Thhis has happened to me. Rather quikly traced the problem to having too small a pixel size. If you upload an image that UHH considers too small to download, UHH simply disables the Download option.

I don't know but I love the photos!
Thanks, will try increasing pixels, strangely my scanner is set for 300 dpi.

File size will also depend on how much compression your jpeg/scanner is set to?
Before rescanning, I will use megapixel, I haven't used that much, good excuse to try it.
I decided to try megapixel, interesting what it does to the image, not sure I like, i will rescan later.

Some weird artifacts and stuff going on with the downloadable ones. I assume megapixel is adding them only because you mentioned it, not something I would guess on my own .
What is the original? Are they RGB or greyscale? Send the specs, size in pixel ( resolution - even though pixels will tell us) , mode, depth (16 bit?) .... format etc. See if we can spot the issue from there.
In the past, I have attached layered PSD files whose image did not show up with a preview, but the files themselves were there. All that appeared on the UglyHog post was the (
download) line. Those with Photoshop or on a desktop etc. that could preview .psd files, could click on and in the window that opened, could view them, and if downloaded, the PSD file layers and adjustments showed up intact.
Yes Megapixel adds artifact. I assume its algorithm thinks they should be there.
The original were/was B & W negatives. I scanned them with an epson scanner at 600 dpi. It was set for B & W negatives. I long ago lost the correct negative adapter, so use the transparency adapter, so had to crop the image, which ended up then at 811X396 for only 65.2 kb
I hope to find the time later, to increase the scanning resolution to see if i can get higher resolution scans.
Of interest, if I leave the Epson, Perfection 1620, plugged in, the software, VueScan X64 does not load. I have to load the program, then plug in the scanner in order to choose that scanner rather than use my Brother printer-copier-scanner.

Just for reference the Nikon Coolscan V operates at 4000dpi so at only 600dpi you are a bit optimistic?
Speed of scanning and size of file v quality.
TD:
The image that you think is misbehaving is 811 pixels wide. UHH needs a minimum of 1201 pixels width to work. Has nothing to do with megapixel size or greyscale or color. 1201 pixel ( or more ) width and they will work as you expect.
