I wasn't thinking about the AA's in the speedlights in my earlier post. I've had them leak so now leave the lights on the shelf with no batteries installed.

Never had a problem. Only take them out when they need recharging.

I put the 16-300 on my 7100, moved it to the 7200, and then this year bought another for my d500 since I don't like to change lens in the field. I've used it all over the world and any photos I've posted here used it. Macro? It will focus down to 19 inches. I have a 90mm macro for any closer work.

Even though one person was killed a few weeks ago, folks are lined up to climb El Capitan. More power to them, I'll watch and take their picture.

From the valley floor, that spot is someone

Zoom to 450mm and there he is.

Then there is sunset

And there are at least 15 climbers still climbing

No need to throw rocks at me but I for one get tired of reading how great Ansel Adams was. I was in Yosemite last week and walked through his gallery, O.K., he took some nice photos and knew how to work in a dark room but I don't feel the need to bow and kneel. Now put that rock down!

Some definition of fun. I have found that the shake reduction improves the image and frankly, I've tried it both 1st and 2nd. But when you are on your 80th trip around the sun, you'll try most anything when you can't use a tripod. Ain't life fun!

PS has the app under filters for shake reduction. Also there is the usual sharpening filters. Which should be used first, sharpening or shake reduction?

Tule Springs are a few miles north of Las Vegas. They've been there hundreds of years. Good place to "shoot" birds in the fall. I've seen Blue Herons catching fish but this is the first time I've ever seen one catch a mouse out of it's hole in the ground. I think he's done it before. I did have to remove a pole sign in the background. The entire time on the clock took 3 seconds: d500, f6.3, 1/1000, ISO1250

Striding away on our arrival

Looking back he was watching us.

BAM! He was so fast we just saw his head go down and back up with the mouse.

Then he positioned it, head first

Half way down

Note the large bulge at the top of his neck

And a long drink to wash it down

Yes that was the money shot with Lake Mead in the background. This one proves the point that is often said about shooting animals, get low.

Big Horn sheep have made a park in Boulder City, NV their summer home. Why not, fresh grass and open space. Only saw one kid and it was up in the hills having lunch.

Sure, just pick the RIGHT ICC profile. I can't make sense of the Canon page, when I asked them they want more information which I am in the process of getting together. Meanwhile, add 60 units of brightness. Just cause I've got a Ph.d. doesn't mean I understand all this stuff! Geez

Watcher: Thanks, I've read most of the article, of course I've calibrated the monitor and set the brightness so I'm back to just add 60 units of brightness and print away. RMJ

Thank you, I notice there are several clips on YouTube, maybe I will be able to understand one of them.

So this is what I found on the Canon site: Profiles for Canon paper are installed when you install the printer driver on your computer. The profiles are specific to images created in Adobe RGB color space (as opposed to the standard sRGB), Canon paper and Canon ink. By viewing these profiles using an application that supports ICC color profiles (like Adobe Photoshop), the profile information will be read, and the names will appear in a more usable format.
I have updated the printer drivers several times so it would seem that the ICC profiles are installed and accessed when I tell it what kind of paper I'm usin. Eh? Anyway I guess I'll just manually adjust the brightness by about 60 unites every time I print something. RMJ

Yes, I've turned off the printer adjustments and specified that color is managed by Photoshop. I've also gone the other way and turned off the software and let the printer manage the color. Same results. Using Canon paper and Canon ink. I'll go to the Canon site and see if they list the ICC profile. I read about such a thing but bypassed that feature.
Thanks for the response.
