No problems. They finally made the zoom control less clunky. That has been pissin' me off since I started using LR. IMO, that alone is worth the upgrade...

It is a USB without the metal part. Put it in any USB port and you should see what is on the drive.
Right click on the favorites folder, then choose show folder contents.
From what you are stating , I don't think you have a problem. It sounds like the normal functions of the camera. I have several Canon cameras, but not a 77d, and they all do what you are stating. Not sure why the camera didn't fire, as stated at the beginning of your post.
