The Sigma 18-35 lens is an ideal tool for museum work because of the fact that it is very difficult shooting. It is an ideal place to hone your skills in the winter and bad weather months. When you get a good image, you know you have worked for it. A lot of fun, and a great challenge!

My wedding anniversary next month so I think I will buy myself a Sigma present to celebrate 26 years.

Here are 3 shots with that lens, all taken at the Air Force Museum in Dayton. The museum is very dark, a tri-pod was used. Down load is a must!

Very nice thank you.

Even Ken Rockwell (no big fan of Sigma) says this lens is extraordinarily sharp.

Of course he also says it may not work with a camera 10 years down the line. Guess what? Some of Nikon's own lenses may not work with Nikon cameras 10 years down the line. AF and AF-D Nikkor lenses won 't autofocus with some of their DSLR cameras and their current G series lenses are essentially useless on their older film cameras due to the lack of an aperture ring.

But he had to dump on Sigma in some way after being forced to say how sharp the lens is.

I read his review also. I have trained by brain to block out his bad humor, personal views, and just remember the facts.

I have that lens and use it on my D7100, mostly night shooting and museum work, it is one of the new Art Series lenses and is incredibly sharp. I will post a picture of a museum shot with your permission.

I am considering purchasing the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM A lens to use with my Nikon D7100. Has anyone had experience with this lens. The online photo's credited to this lens seem to be very sharp. I am very happy with my Sigma 150-500mm so I now feel comfortable buying the Sigma brand. Thank you in advance.

Thanks, MT. Always appreciate your input, and your points are well taken.

I'm not a serious birder. I just need something to hold the heavier combination when the light starts getting dim.

Thank you.

You should call MT at the Camera Cottage to discuss Gimbal's. He is very knowledgeable and will educate you on equipment even if you end up not buying from him. I have talked to him and he didn't push me to buy from him.

Does anyone have any experience with the Opteka GH1 Pro gimbal head? I use a Manfrotto 055PROB tripod, and am looking for a better solution to using my 70-200 VRII w/TC20e than a ball head (which actually doesn't work at all).
Thanks in advance.

I have the Nest and can say it is well built and operates smoothly. In my opinion there is not a better price point, quality built, and smooth operating head out there.

Phil, sometimes I'm glad that their isn't a camera store within a hundred miles of me.

I have a store within 20 miles, but my problem is resisting booting up the laptop and ordering from B&H or MT Shooter. It is easier than hopping in the car and driving for a 1/2 hour to buy something.

I really don't have a clue as to which tripod I should get. Looking on ebay for a cf tripod with a max height of 70+ inches is not easy.

I have had the Nest NT-404 for a little over a month now and couldn't be happier. It is well built and has a high level of fit and finish. I looked at several tripods in the $1,500.00 range and feel that I got a bargain with the Nest. I feel a good tripod is like my wife. It is a keeper for life.

I am receiving a Mac desktop and I am worried about the transfer. Can I use the Windows 7 on the Mac until I am familiar with the Apple operating system?
What's the best way to bring my programs over, LR, Elements, etc.?

You can purchase a program called Parallels. You can ports windows to the Mac. This allows you to use the Mac OS and Windows on the same machine. I did this when I moved from PC to Mac 2 years ago. The funny thing is windows 7 runs faster and is more stable on my Mac.

24TB is not that bad according to the wife. Any type of storage is like my barn. The bigger it is the more junk you drag home.

I know there is a similar question being discussed right now, but I have a more specific sling strap question.

I want to avoid using a strap that uses the tripod socket; I would prefer that the strap attach to one or both of the strap lugs. Does anyone have thoughts on the:

Boss Strap <http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/878356-REG/BosStrap_bosg315_Generation_3_Sliding_Sling.html>

vs. the

Optech Utility Strap <http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003T0EYVE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2CSRTMBH2SV8V&coliid=I1ETAJF4J774EU&psc=1)?

Thanks.

I have the OP/TECH and really like it. I have not had it very long but I used it around 8 hours a day over 5 days last week and it is comfortable.

We all haven't been on here since day one (UHPF) let's all play nice now. I learn something new each time a subject is bantered about as new people add their 2 cents worth, only my wife claims that I know everything at least that is what she keeps telling me.

My wife says the same about me but I can tell it is not sincere, but just sarcasm and there is usually other words said as she walks away.

You know what bothers me most when I visit my local camera store is every time I purchase a new lens is that the sales staff always ask me if I want to buy a filter, my answer to them is why do I need a filter and most can't give me a decisive answer, so I put forth the question to them are you just trying run the purchase up for commission, guess what the answer is. Yes for more commission and answer is no thank you!
