I have been a loyal Canon owner with a T3i, 50mm,10-22, 70-300, 15-85(canon lens) and a 18-270 Tamron lens. I have been thinking about upgrading my camera but after reading many blog comments and snapsort reviews of the D7100 - I am confused. I don't want to start the whole canon vs Nikon debate, however all reviews say that the image quality on the Nikon blows away the canon. Snapsort rates the Nikon at 85 and the canon at 65. If anyone has had either or both of these cameras - is there really that much difference in image quality between these two camera? Any help is appreciated.
I had a 650D before I switched to my D7100. Image quality between the two is comparable but I think there is more detail in the Nikon because of it's 24mp sensor. I switched because I got a chance to use a friend's D600 and liked the control setup of the Nikons better.
You can't go wrong with either system
The Nikon costs less. ;-)

Hey, you can buy a lot for $2.00, like... well, umn...
Agreed. I am still scratching my head to figure out what. :) Let me know if you come up with something before I do. :)

What is "much of a difference" to me might be nothing to you. If you have the time and desire AND live near a shop that rents camera bodies, go rent one for a week, that a bunch of shots (and keep good notes on what you did for each shot), then rent another and try to take the same kinds of shots (lens, setting, time of day, subject, etc) and decide for yourself. Only you can make the right decision.
That's their overall score. The image quality score is like I posted.

OK. If all you do is studio work with still life, then the image score is all you need.
But if you do sports, wildlife, landscapes, events, children, friends, ... then the other things become important.

You can buy a quality used car for the price you pay for one of them. Rent the damn thing and find out for yourself.
By the time a guy rents two cameras for a week, how much does he have tied up in just rentals??
Just wondering?!
