If you do not have a backup of the Catalog then

.... reinstall LrC (your are speaking of Lightroom Classic aren't you). Make a new catalog in a different location then go to Import. Simply select "Add" and navigate to the root directory of your image archive and select any folder. LrC should find all the images and rebuild the entire catalog. HTH

NOw we are getting somewhere. Good answer

I just found the icon for switching between single and slow/high speed multiple shots. I found it by pressing the Q button. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!

And that takes care of that.

Is the issue lack of a shop or lack of transportation? Rural or metro area? Maybe Best Buy? Will someone in the facility assist with info, etc?

Not Best Buy. If it indeed is the lens cap you would be better off using a ball peen hammer

I am still trying to figure what went wrong from the original post. Did Lightroom just crash or did the laptop

It seems to me that there is more going on than Lightroom crashing. Lightroom does not store photos in it. All it has is a database which contains a thumbnail of the image. You can completely remove Lightroom and your photos will still be there. If nobody can find your photos either you accidently erased the folder containing them, moved the folder containing them or your drive is crashing.

Only format memory cards in the camera in which they will be used. NEVER in a computer!

Not necessary FAT32 format is FAT32 and that is what all cameras use

It makes no difference if the card is formatted in the camera or the computer. The camera will write the files on the card all by it's lonesome. Even a card straight off the shelf is already formatted and the camera reads the card and writes to it automatically. What is strange is why the camera didn't come up with a no card error, and you didn't gimp any of the photos you took.
