Here's a comment from a woman... BS! Until there is a better and more reliable way within the budget of the average American woman, I say leave it alone. I can tell you about many friends and family members alerted and saved by regular mammograms, and several more who were treated for benign growths that were discovered that would have caused future pain and disfigurement had they not been found as part of a routine Mammo. Is this another case of medicine ignoring the many risks associated with females as they have done in the past with heart attacks? So, men, would you be comfortable following the recommendation made a year or so ago saying that prostate checks were not necessary since 90% of prostate cancer is so slow growing that most men have malignant prostates and go through life without knowing it and die of other ailments? Shall we all sit back and wait for our cancers to grow large enough to find through self-examination and hope we do a better job than radiology can do?

Found this interesting but I have no opinion at this point because I'm not sure any of this is substantial evidence ...but enough to give more thought to. Is it true? If not, why is it touted as truth?
(sure hope the link works. I don't have a lot of luck posting live links here...duh...)

I watched this on the news last night and was amazed. Most men I've talked to seem to think these screenings are a waste of time or that this is a good reason for opting out of a mammogram (they say they've heard how painful it is). As a female, I resent this study since it is the only tool we have other than self exam which is even worse as a diagnostic tool. Until there is a more reliable way of detecting breast cancer (this includes the type that is not felt but appears as inflamed tissue on scans) I see no reason to abandon it. Price in this instance does not matter. I've lost 4 friends to breast cancer that could have been detected with a mammo but the ladies all felt it was a waste of time. My sister and my mother were saved with mammograms. When medicine becomes a matter of living and dying by the dollar, we have lost all sense of right and wrong.

I have gone to school, graduated "Honor Society", I had 3 kids, a disabled husband, got my first home when I turned 50, and I've been working for 40 years - some of that in the early years was hard labor @ 16 hours a day for 6 days a week, at at times, holding as many as 3 jobs at one time. I lived on welfare for 6 years (my wage was so low, I qualified for a percentage of the subsidy), and STILL to this day, this moment - I am considered to be living well within the poverty level. Guess what...it's not by choice and it's not because I didn't try. I'm rather saddened to hear people who feel poverty is a choice or can be overcome. I'm even sadder to know I have worked myself into poor health at an early age and probably won't live much longer (if I make it) to the age of 66 when I can afford to retire. And I'll be doing it in hand-me-down clothing, driving a beat-up oil-eating car and paying my fair share of taxes on money I wish I could keep to at least buy a new pair of shoes (mine are second hand from a co-worker and at least 4 years old...)Yes, some people find a way out, but so many just spin their wheels looking for an exit ramp but never find it...

I think his remarks were his right to make - but it's my right to turn my back on the person who made them. I totally disagree he speaks for anyone other than himself. Now, I'm not sure he should be removed for his belief but he is contracted to make money for media and with a dump in ratings, he is only losing their profits. Out he goes. Won't make a difference to me anyway...being from the south, I see him and his family as a bad representation of my culture anyway and never watch this humiliating show...

I had an old Wedgwood Oven from the '30s and loved it. Drop down lid over the burners, an oven, pot/pan storage area and a pastel rose color...Yep, about 400 pounds if it was an ounce. The regulator went bad and I searched everywhere for a replacement part but never found one. Finally had to give it up to someone with "better connections" in hopes they could find the proper part. Great unit though.

How nice...the sound of silence...
Good piece of unbiased propaganda. Well written and demonstrated. Apparently, enough impact to leave everyone speechless.

When I was a teen, I kept a purse-sized can of Aqua Net hair spray in my bag at all times - especially on a date. I didn't spend a lot of time on my hair but if a boy got too "fresh" out came the little spray can and he got a shot in the eyes. Slowed things down really fast.

In my view, the placement of the barricades was illegal. "Federal property" is property owned by the citizens of the USA, not a select group of government officials. We all own that property and we should have the right to walk on it when we please. If someone put a fence across my driveway at home, I'd rip it down also...

I always wondered who was it that first dipped his finger in beaver-butt goo and put it to his tongue...What on earth was he thinking (I know it had to be a man because women just know better LOL)??? Actually, there are several animals we harvest glandular secretions from that contribute to our foods and hygiene products.

I have a supposed-to-be white t-shirt with a Radioactive symbol on the front. I got it in 1973. Thin enough to see through and peppered with tiny holes, but I can't seem to give it up.
