There is a growing use of videos to show homes. Since most DSLR's now days take video that might be the way to go.

I made my own video and showed it to several real estate agents (not prospects to list my home). All were very complementary. Three realtors said, "That video gives accuratecy and authority to the facts about your home.!" You will notice that I have many 'stills' included. If you want to see my 'sample' click on this link:

As said by others, there were a number of changes I had to make to my pictures before a real estate agent would accept it: Never have photos of family members showing, nothing on counters, only one magazine on each table, limit the number of furniture pieces when ever possible etc.

Good luck with your photos. I'd show them to your future listing agent so that you can take many of the photo over again. ;-)

A very high percentage of our photos are designed to "tell a story". Somethings a story can be told with more feeling if shown using short video clips. A DSLR has an advantage over most consumer and pro-sumer video camcorders in that the depth of focus can be limited to a very shallow depth of field (forcing your viewers to look at what you want them to). Another advance to taking video is you don't have to miss the 'peak' of the action. For instance, when taking a shot of a whale jumping out of the water there is no way for a DSLR to see the 'nose' of the whale emerging out of the water. But when taking video it can be rolling before the jump is even started. You just take out the 'pre' recording (before the jump even starts).

Please make certain that your (future) DSLR has a mic input jack. Sound is at least as important as the video. Don't get me started on that! ;-)

This link takes one to a worldwide 'view' of ISLAM (didn't appear to be political). Once that short video is finished it will take you to a Fox News report showing many states in the US where there could be 'training' groups. This scared me!

I would NOT recommend having the 2 different lenses.

My wife just finished her first Cataract surgery. She had an implanted lens for single close vision. The doctor had scheduled her second eye for just a few weeks in the future. However, during her two-week checkup, he recommended she delay her second eye because the cataract was not that far developed. She took his advice and is delaying it because she sees 20/30 vision.

She is SO HAPPY to be able to "throw her glasses" away. Many years ago she had far vision contact lens in one eye and close vision contacts in the other eye. She really liked not having glasses then also. So it was not hard to even 'guess' what the outcome would be with this surgery.

I think, to take your side in this issue, that the majority of people do not adjust to different distance vision in each eye. But, there are some that really like it. So, I'm recommending potential 'candidates' investigate for themselves.

Neola, I 'thought' that I'd use the option of "Picking Up" that you offered. Then I saw that you were "in hiding" so that wouldn't work.

Just kidding about me being a prospect. I just saw the humor of your posting (in my eyes anyway).

Very Good Photo!
One of our friends here in Smith River, CA has a similar bird that has been helping them reduce the number of gophers. He's gotten five so far this week. However, one gophfer was so large that he couldn't get it down his throat. ;-)

Saproo, David Pine mentioned "distortion". I agree. Take your camera to a store or to a friend's that has the len(s) that you are considering. Take photos of the straight (vertical) wall/windows to the outside edge of your photo. While I 'think' that you can get rid of distortion in Post Processing, it is time consuming.

So, check distortion before you purchase. You'll be happy that you did.

I'm on a volunteer 'geek squad' in a 55+ RV Resort and for next time I suggest a safer and longer lasting method. Purchase a can of "tuner cleaner" and spray the contacts. You won't believe the high percentage of 'fixins' that I do with the Internet, TV and Telephone connections with that simple procedure.

Best wishes to all of you 'new' geeks! ;-)

I went to this site. The third choice down 'only' costs $1,275.xx. You certainly like expensive 'things'. ;-)

Jim, your choice of background music added to the calming effect. Thanks for sharing. Don't you just wish these parks would allow using tripods?

Now, I am really depressed.

Leicaflex, God can 'get your attention' through many means. Depression is certainly one way.
That aside, many people 'stop looking' for the way to eternal life in heaven. Why? Because they can't get past "Why would a loving God allow murder, rape, wars, etc.?"
If that is where you might be today, you might like to view a short video that I've put together that answers that question. Go to my website www.assoc.com click on videos and then select the first video "God's Love".
Let me know if that helps.

Wayne-03 be sure and study a good video book before starting doing video. After being in still photo clubs for over 40 years I started looking into video. The first 'rule' that I learned was that the AUDIO is more important than the video. I had to be 'forced' to even understand that! But, I'm convinced ... now.

One major advantage of using a DSLR for video (as opposed to Prosumer and less expensive video camcorders) is that you are able have less depth of field when you want to emphasize your 'hero'.

Have fun.
