I noticed that most of the EBay listings for Rolleis and Hasselblads are from sellers in Japan. If anyone know why, I would appreciate knowing why this might the case. My concern is grey market camera equipment. I just checked out a Hasselblad that sounded very interesting, but the serial number did not conform to Hasselblad's unique 10-digit serial number protocol. Also, I never heard of TLR lens fogging because of lubricants or any other reason. I have a Rollei that was produced between 1951-1954, and both lenses look clear and like new. The Rollei's were like tanks (albeit, far more elegant) if properly cared for.

Grey market isn’t a problem unless you need a warranty repair. None of the camera being discussed has a warranty beyond what the seller offers. Vintage cameras I’d worry more about parts availability.

Rode in an EV Uber today, a Ford. There’s a button you can push that will make a motor sound. Step on the pedal and it makes a reving sound!

We did that with cards on the spokes of our bicycles.

OK. Just whenever you thought you have caught someone out turns out to be a legitimate mistake which you had never thought of. I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it if I hadn't been reading the stories, which I am trying to give up. There is also MIL and FIL. MIL's appear to be the worst followed by SILs.

It’s because you Kiwis are standing up side down😎 just kidding, I found the most wonderful, generous and pleasant people when I visited New Zealand back in the early 90s and would never hesitate to visit your beautiful country if the opportunity. Loved the place.

Reasonable doubt extends to EVERY element of the crime. Example: the prosecutor files an information (charging document) that states that On or about the x date of x, 20xx in xxx County, the defendant (Insert name here) entered or remained unlawfully in a dwelling with intent to commit a crime therein while armed with a deadly weapon. Given this example the elements are: date, in the charging jurisdiction, Defendant, enter or remain, unlawfully, with intent to commit a crime, while armed. If any of these elements are not proved the jury must find the defendant not guilty. Say the defendant breaks in the door to save the resident from a fire you haven’t proved unlawfully entered. If there isn’t evidence presented that the location is within the county- not guilty. Might have happened in Canada. The date isn’t specified who knows if it happened within the statute of limitation- not guilty. So the conclusion is that every single element must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
As regards legislation, they can make any law they want as long as it is not in violation of the constitution. Obviously the low lying fruit as discussed above is sex crimes. The lawmakers said it’s not ok to have sex without the ability to consent. This can be age, incapacity or position of authority. All accepted and designed to protect an enumerated class. The legislature feels special protection from harm. We don’t want people having sex with 2 year olds or passed out victims or having teachers boinking their students. It’s the individuals within the protected class not the entire population. This doesn’t offend the constitution and in fact the legislative history often contains the reason for passing the law. Each of the 50 states have the ability to make their own laws and all legislate in the interest of their constituents. Your law in Ohio may realistically be different than Texas for example. If you really want to make your brain hurt start contemplating common law or constitutional law as they interact with statutory law in a particular jurisdiction. Criminal law is one of the most specialized area in the practice of law.

SIL is short for Sister In Law and yet we have a "he" further along. So should we have had a BIL or 'she' ?
Only reason I raise this is I have been viewing 'stories' Revenge and Malicious and they make this mistake very often. It is attention to detail and why it pays to re-read anything/everything before posting.

My bad, I thought it was short for Son in Law. For clarification he is the husband of my middle daughter. He graduated in the 80’s from Gonzaga University School of Engineering. He is employed by a firm that builds and sells machines for the cardboard industry that are sold and installed world wide. He holds at least two patents, maybe more. My grandson works for the same company in their robotics division and is going to Brazil next week for an install.

I know how to draw with a CAD software kinda OK but I wouldn't know how to draw a design to feed the 3D printer.

My 3rd advantage is that SIL is a mechanical engineer and he can do that stuff in his 😄

I saw something my Son-in-law printed on his. Best of both worlds, I can use it whenever I want and he paid for it. I’ll share the PCB warnings with him. Maybe he can 3D print an exhaust fan system.

Saw a name carved an dated on a temple during a recent trip to Egypt. The date was in 1858. An eye opener for me.

I probably wouldn’t use the Loctite on it. I used it religiously when I restored a 1974 Harley. Of course there is a lot of shake and vibration on a machine that size…..500# more or less. I had to use a tool, wrench or Allen to remove any I’d installed and had to remove. A precision device like a camera seems to “dainty” for it. It also finds its way into places you don’t want it to go. That’s ok on a motor mount, not so much on a camera.

Good for you! Glad you like your vehicle.

Likely will not be as advantageous in most of the Western U.S. (except for the “Left Coast” states: CA, OR, WA).

Only coastal WA and OR. The inland folks are more conservative and the weather is not a user friendly for EVs.

[quote=steve03]The fossil fuel industry spends 13 times the renewable industry on political campaigns. Still it will be people in the market for a new car that will decide the future of the automotive industry. I to don't give a rats A.. what. you drive but the consumer will be to ones that will determine what kind of car will be available in the future.
When the government puts their thumb on the scale of EVs what are they to do? Roll over and play dead. Wouldn’t it be cool if the energy companies did R&D in renewables. Oh wait, they do. My electric utility investing millions on developing a viable fuel cell that would power a large residence. It works but isn’t quite ready for prime time. Oh well, it will eventually be viable and they’ll earn a return on the investment. They are honest about it pros and cons an aren’t trying to jamb it down anybodys throat. It would be naive in the extreme to believe the energy producers aren’t working like crazy to develop energy sources outside their current business model. To my way of thinking choice is good. I suspect to 30,000 Icelanders without heat would agree. Same with the folks who had to abandon their EVs on the roads in the big blizzard recently. Or the auto dealers who sit on millions of unsold inventory. Choice not force. I recall somebody saying we should not underestimate Joes ability to F things up. Trying to kill traditional energy is but one example.

Years ago when film was to only ball game Camera club members would take prepaid mailers with them and mail EACH roll separately back home That way they didn't have to go through the Xray when arriving home and IF one roll got lost in the mail all was not lost.
Today I use 32gb cards only because the smaller ones are getting scarce, If it were me I would shoot a new set of cards each day, mail one home or to someone who checks their mail everyday and keep the other on my person at all times. How you identify the cards are up to you.

On a recent trip I was told to not mail anything I cared about getting. Not all mail is as competent as USPS. Mailed two postcards from Italy at the same time at the same box. One arrived in about two months the other seem to be stuck on the MTA. Apologies to the 1960s generally and the Kingston Trio specifically for the MTA reference. The boomers will get it.

If you want the experience without the investment the Maymia 645 is quite inexpensive and versatile. Poor man’s Hasselblad. Unless you are very dedicated to 120 roll film chances are you won’t use it as much as your digital system.
