Six, but our community stresses an activity called Trunk or Treat. People meet at a place and give treats from their cars.

They certainly go for a non-traditional landscape style. A very creative collection but most aren't the photos I would hang on my wall. Just a matter of preference.

I agree with you, not my style.

I think it is a Farmall A. Around 1950. I spent a lot of hours on one that didn't have the three point hitch and hydraulics.

Great shots, I spent a few hours photoing the "erector set bridge" a couple of years ago. Took kind of a detour on a trip from Phoenix to Tooele. Please keep posting, I look for your shots every day. Some of them add to my shoot list, THANKS!

Nice series Mike, all are gorgeous. Have an Uncle in Odgen he has never mention this. Bob

A lot of people in Utah probably haven't head of Kodachrome either, because it is Close to Bryce, It is down south about 200 miles from SLC and Ogden, and it is on a gravel road. Some people are scared of anything except black roads with yellow lines on them. There is other areas just as unique a few miles east of Kodachrome, Devils Garden on the Hole-in-the-Rock road, Toadstools area, lower calf creek falls, Hells Backbone, and lots of big arches along the Escalante River.
The places I have named are just a few of the better known places. I have spent probably 50+ days down in the southern part of Utah an my list of things to see gets bigger as I learn about things I want to see and photo. Look at the posts by cany143,utmike, jederick and a few others.

I like all of your photo's but #6 is the one I like best. Went there the first time about 30 years ago and it was pretty primitive then. I think the only thing there was vault toilets and a few tables. It really is a neat beautiful place that more people should see.

I probably have some, I've taken a number Pentax lenses and cameras apart and I save all the screws and stuff. For the next two weeks I can't get to my shop as I have a broken leg. If you still need one in a couple of weeks PM me and I'll see what I can do for you.

I went up the Tooele side of the Oquirrh's yesterday in Middle Canyon, about 4 inches of very wet snow at the pass. It was raining a light misty rain at the time.
I really admire your photo's and hope you keep posting.

These are really great, I'm guessing some are taken up West Fork.

I only saw one mention for Fisher towers, I think it is worth the 20 mile trip up the Colorado river. Probably the best time is late afternoon. Go down the Shafer road just inside Canyon lands NP. Each switchback has incredible views, after a few miles go back up unless you like real rough roads. It id possible to come out on the Potash road a long the Colorado but it is rough in places. Sorry to be late with a response, been on the road.

I like the uniqueness of #2 and #4, but they are all good. The old truck is at least a 1 Ton, the right rear duel wheel and tire are missing, can't tell in the picture if the left is missing too. It also looks to be converted into a dump truck. The reason the wipers only worked sometimes was because they were vacuum operated. They would work fine going down hill and not at all while pulling hard. If I remember right the wheels were 19 inch and kind of hard to buy tires for. In 52 the door handles changed to a push button style. We used a 1 Ton on the ranch till replacing it in 62 with a Ford 1 Ton. What a difference 10 years made, electric wipers, V8, power steering, power brakes, turn signals, 12 volt electric system and probably others I can't think of right now.

I have really enjoyed your western states touring this summer. We, wife and I, spent the summer in Northwest Washington as Hosts at a Girls camp and didn't get to see much except Cascade National Park for a short visit.

Close examination clearly shows where the fins are individually welded in place as well as the pitting from years of corrosion. Your seeing many coats of paint on an old metal wheel with the last being quite recent.

I agree.

A lot of the information you are getting is wrong or miss leading. The highest point in Bryce is 9,105 feet at Rainbow point at the south end of the 18 mile road in the park. Grand Staircase N Monument is huge, 1.7 Million acres. or 2 and a sixth times bigger than Rhode Island. Pretty much anywhere you go in southern Utah you will be close to or into GSNM. At least 3 highways go through parts of it, 89, 89A and 12. Highway 12 is a Scenic Byway and it is worth driving from Highway 89 clear to Capitol Reef NP. It goes through Red Canyon, Bryce, Cannonville, Tropic, Escalante, Devils Backbone, Boulder and ends at Torrey which is about 10 miles from Capitol Reef NP.

On highway 89 between Page and Kanab at mile post 19 is a very colorful area called Toadstools, it is 1/4 mile walk north of the highway. Devils Garden is 14 miles south of Escalante and has Matate Arch and a couple of other small arches. Kodachrome Basin is a few miles south of Tropic. A grove of Aspen trees north of Boulder on highway 12 claims to be the largest living organism on earth.

I lived in Flagstaff for 25 years and have gone through and explored there for about 40 years. PM me if you want more info and I will give you my phone#.

How are you traveling once you get in the area? Do you have off highway driving experience?
