I will be following this thread.
I had the similar issues with Lightroom, very sporadic connections. Mine worked at times but then lost connection and had to reboot computer to get it connected again. Try keeping the camera on, shut the computer down then start up again and open Lightroom see if that works for you.
My solution was expensive, I bought Capture One just for this function. Works much better just don't turn off your camera during a session.

Thanks Jim-Pops,
I have never been able to get a tethered image on either the PC or the iMac. Something must be incompatible.

I am back trying to setup to take pictures of jewelry and hoping to be able to tether the camera to a PC laptop using Lightroom version 6. I hooked the camera to the PC using a HDMI to Mini-HDMI cable that I got from Amazon, launched LR, went to File, Tethered Capture, Start Tethered Capture, gave the session a name and got the LR screen that showed that the camera was recognized. That screen also had the section that had the button that I understood could be clicked to take a picture. Nothing happened when I clicked that button on the LR screen. Nothing happened on the LR display when I pushed the button on the camera to take a picture. The camera took the picture but nothing changed on the LR screen on the computer.

I tried the same steps on my iMac because I am more familiar with it, just to see if I would get a different result but the session dead ended just like on the PC. In that case I used the cable provided with the Camera to hook up to the iMac.

Would anyone have a suggestion to help me move forward?

Thanks.

Forget RRS, this is really special, will also support a greater weight than anything in the RRS range. https://www.flm-gmbh.de/en/

And incompatible with RRS.

I found a RRS BH55 ball head in perfect condition on Craigslist at a considerable savings. Can’t imagine a better piece of gear.

Thanks to all of you who responded to the DOF question that I was really hesitant to ask. Now, since it looks like there may be two approaches, it seems like I would need to know what approach was used by the author of any DOF calculator before I know how to apply it to my close-up photo application. The front of the 16-35F4 lens is about 16” away from the jewelry object that has a depth of about 4”, so the distance from the front of the lens to the sensor plane in the camera body brought up the question of what reference point was meaningful for the calculator. Thanks again for the inputs!

Looking through photography books about DOF, they describe the distance from the object as the distance measured from the lens. I’m using a 16-35mm lens at 35mm, taking close up pictures of jewelry using autofocus and attempting to have a few inches of DOF. Is the distance really measured from the front element of the lens, the point closest to the object being photographed? It makes a big difference, when I enter information into a DOF calculator, whether I measure from the shutter plane or the front element of the lens. Thanks for clarification!

I swear I saw her hanging around outside that state-run lab in Wuhan with that guy in a white coat and mask.

Not this specifically, but I've noticed a change in the general wildlife behavior. Around here there is far less noise from cars and stuff. We are also starting to get some spring weather, so hard to say for sure.

What do you use to attract them? I get some and have been thinking about trying to attract more.

I use the pictured feeder. It holds 16 ounces of fluid. I add enough water to 4 ounces of white sugar to get 16 ounces of mixture and stir it until the sugar is dissolved. Feeders that have the fluid above the outlet tend to drip as the outside temperature rises and falls so I don’t use that style.

We’ve lived in the Seattle area for over 30 years and have had many hummingbirds visit our feeders year round (even kept heaters on the feeders when it was below freezing with a foot of snow on the deck).

About three weeks ago the hummingbirds quit coming to the feeders on either side of the house and have not returned since.

Nothing is different in the feeder solution or feeder cleanliness. I haven’t seen any wholesale tree or shrub spraying.

Has anyone else noticed this in their areas?

I got tired of replacing batteries on the generator and riding mower and put them on battery tenders. With the Coronavirus lockdown, we drive about four miles every three weeks so I picked up three battery tenders from Harbor Freight online for the cars. All of the batteries are happy now and we can count on having vehicles that start when you turn the key.

Is there a reason not to use the USB end of the adapter to plug directly into the MacBook? Or plug the SD card directly into the MacBook? Doesn’t your MacBook have those ports? Or is this just an exercise?

Actually, that's what I was thinking/saying as well, Rich....HOWEVER, the hotel manager "borrowed" the original $100 from the tourist, who eventually took it back, or think of it as the hotel manager "repaying" the $100 loan from the tourist...sorry it took me so long folks, but hey...I'm an ole fart...lol

I had hoped to get my answer changed before you commented. You are so right.

On the other hand, to address the original question: No, the Stimulus programs will give funds to a certain set of people/companies, resulting in a gigantic increase in the National debt owed by all U.S. citizens. So it is quite different.

if you simplify the exchange: The hotel manager paid his debt with money he didn’t own and was paid back with money he didn’t deserve.
