Super, super series. Well done.
Very nice series. Also appreciate the entomology lesson. Really neat fly. Hope I can find one this summer.
Some extension tube calculators use MWD (Minimum Working Distance) and others use MFD or CFD (Minimum or Closest Focusing Distance). Adding tubes increases minimum FOCUSING distance and at the same time reduces minimum WORKING distance. Very easy to get the two mixed up.
Two things come to mind. 1. Can you set a "Pre-set WB" or maybe Canon calls it a "Custom WB"? 2. Could your ambient light be causing problems? Don't know if these will help. Some critters are really tough to get the color "right". Sometimes, critters just look different when looking with the naked eye or thru a microscope or thru a camera lens.
That was pretty quick. Thanks.
Super series. Fantastic photo's. How much time between 1st & last photo? I did a series last year on a leaf hopper & it took about 6 hours to change color. Outstanding post. You're setting the bar pretty high. Well done!
Well, I downloaded the "Trial Version" & I find it to be a very complicated program to use, at least for me. My first stacks were very noisy and over sharpened using their default settings. Plus they have huge watermarks so I won't be able to keep an image, even if I can come up with a good one. There are MANY options that by default are either "on" or "off". The manuals (2 of them) are available as a PDF download and very brief in explaining the program options. I think they assume you have above average abilities with using computer programs, which I do not. I didn't have any trouble with CombineZP or Zerene Stacker but this one is going to take a lot of time to master, at least for me. I'll be interested to hear from other first time users.
Looks like you're at about 6.75:1. Your focus is pretty good for a single shot. Even with a "flat" paper target with printed type, you will probable need about a 10 shot stack using about .02mm steps for a sharp image. If you don't already have a stacking program, the free CombineZP is a good one to start with. You're off to a good start. Good luck & have fun.
Thanks bk & abc for the detailed replies. After checking out the ExpoDisc, I think that may be the best solution.
Congratulations Douglass, outstanding photo's. Well done!
Is the Spyder5EXPRESS Display Calibration System a good choice for a 23" AOC (IPS) monitor? I,m not a pro, but would like to have the proper colors when I occasionally do print an image.
Thanks in advance for your help.
