Well.....
I've had lots of things get delayed and lost in the mail. If you carry them with you, and you don't make it home, no big deal - sort of. But, suppose you get home, and the SD cards never arrive. You'll have to take that fun trip all over again.
YA!!! that would just be terrible!!!! going on a cruise to Alaska Friday!!

I understand what it is you are after. However, just some food for thought. Years ago my photographic lecturer
told the assembled class, never put a large megabite card in your camera. His maximum suggestion at that time
was no more than 8 GB (different I know if you are shooting video).
His theory was if you lose an 16,20,30 GB card you have lost quite a considerable amount of photographs, whereas
an 8GB card, not as many photographs.
I have kept to his theory, although I have increased to 16GB and no greater (I do not do video).
The suggestion made by 'bsprague' would appear to fulfil your needs, but personally I would be very nervous of going
on your "my bucket list" trip and having a 1TB hard drive stolen or lost with all your photographs on it.
SD cards are relatively cheap nowadays. My advice would be to take a 1TB equivalent, if that is the capacity you think
you will need, in SD cards and don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Hope you enjoy your trip and post lots of good photographs on your return.

thats is a great idea!! then i could also mail the cards home every day so as not to have any problems!! thanks
i have lightroom cc, i have been having problems with my old computer it was 6 years old {90 in computer years!!} so i purchaced a new dell labtop, 7000, to do just photo processing, i got photoshop cc and lightroom cc downloaded, i have been working on a training course from Phil Steele to learn lightroom, i have finally learned enough to get started {been working on learning Lr on and off for a couple years}
so anyways i got all files and photos imported, got the file system so i can understand it,
now as i am moving folder it starts Ok, then after i move some folders , about 5 folders it starts showing the "loading" button at the bottom of the image screen, so i wait a couple minutes until it is done "loading" then i do a couple more files, then about half way thru the process my computer screen goes almost black, and locks up!! the computer will not even let me Ctrl+alt+del,{ I waited almost 20 min. and it still never came back} so i have to press and hold the "power" button to shut it down , i have 16gb ram 1trb hard drive, i7, pretty much thats all i know about the labtop off hand,
seeing this is a new labtop ,and all i do is photo processing on it , it should be able to handle the load!!!
*photo library is on a 4trb external hard drive,* I use "RAW" files, mostly
anyhelp would be appreciated......

I shoot quite a bit of film still, and most of my lenses are "D" type, so switching between say, my Nikon F or F3 to the Df is pretty much seamless.
yes, i see that film is making a come back ! i actually heard that they are going to be making and processing Kodachrome again, i may have to break an old film camera i got stashed away!!

I can change important settings like ISO and shutter speed a lot faster on the Df than on a "modern" DSLR. The aperture I adjust with the *gasp* aperture ring!
LOL, yep, the aperure ring took me about 5 minutes to figure out, thought it was 1976 again!!

To be fair a lot of the things on the Df is old technology.
1. The sensor on the Df although the same as the D4 is older than that of the D800 and has a lot fewer pixels.
2. The AF module is older than that of the D800.
3. Last but not least the controls of the Df are based on cameras of the 80's and before.
But why not? It works well.
the Df will fill the niche that I need. it turns out i have no need for 36 megapixel photos. go figure!!

Why buy outdated technology?
its pretty simple really {since you asked} i have a 3200 and a d800, i love the d800, but with my arthritic hands {i was a heavy equipment mechanic ,automotive, marine and industrial for 45 years} it is just a little big and awkward for me, i have compared the specs on Df and 800 on the nikon site, and the are "just" about the same camera, {and i not interested in doing video.} now that i have the Df in my hands it is a perfect fit,..
and on another note!!!
i had delusions of grandeur when i got my camera stuff 5 years ago,{when i retired} i had intentions of becoming a photographer, turns out it is hard to teach an "old dog" some new tricks, so i bought bought a welder and am do some fabrication work!! {converting bumper haul RV's to 5th wheel trailers, via an adapter}{guess i am a too high strung to retire!!} But I am still doing photography as a hobby!!
Well, Nikonbill , not sure if you where being a smartass or if you where really asking a legt question, so i opted for the second! hope it answers you question

Other than its uniquely beautiful retro look and D4 sensor, one of the primary benefits of the Nikon Df is its backwards capability with older "built like a tank" F-mount Nikkor lenses, including AI, AI-S as well as the D series.
i have some "D" series lenses i used on my D800, i love them, also have a couple AI ? i think they are, i will try on the DF,
perfect!! that is what i was looking for!!!! thank you
I am buying a DF Nikon, i did a comparison to my D800, most all is the same, "CMOS sensor" etc, I had purchased some "D" lenses o use on the D800, {inexpensive and pretty good lenses} MY question is Will the "D" lens auto focus with the DF? i know they will not work on a select DX cameras!
thank you in advance for any info

I like it when my work evokes an emotional response. I just received this compliment:
"Most of your work seems to be 'hard' (not as hardcore). It feels angry, disturbed in some way.
The link to your image feels like a self portrait that is between self loathing and despair.
My 'interpretation' or opinion is likely off the mark but this is how I interpret many of your posts, especially the composites that try to create a 'new reality' that is dark, a bit 'goth'."

Thank you
