I remember Jessica, she's accusing Trump of kissing her without permission the last I heard !
Earlier, in another thread, you asked about emotional feelings about your work. I definitely see some of your emotions through your photographic work.
It appears you are trying to tell a story with each photograph, in this photo you tell a story that goes with The Whiskey Lullaby.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFvCCk0hojc Whiskey Lullaby - Brad Paisley & Allison Krauss MY opinion, each photograph should be able to tell a story on its own merit, and it can be paired with another form of story telling art. The better the story, the better the art.

I see no point to this photo at all, unless it's to show the ugly in a nude.

Are you suggesting that photography is only thought provoking if it aligns with your standards of physical beauty?
This is what the photograph is about
Jessica is a woman who lives in the country, she stands on her horse when it walks around, she is into cowgirl hats and takes baths in a bathtub that is outside. Her favorite pistol is a 22 with a long barrel. She teaches her son to shoot various guns. She goes 4-wheeling in the river. She street races in her Camaro and isn't afraid of going over 100mph to win. She party's in taverns and demands respect from the men. She is married to a man who loves her deeply and loves racing. She is very quiet and you would never expect this in her life if you do not know her. So this picture is about a cowgirl downing a bottle of Jack after a hard days work.

A good photo should make you think. This photo certainly does that - although to me it tells a different story - one of unhappiness - someone who is alone with the bottle, drowning her sorrows, so to speak. Sounds like her life is not that bad, though - glad to hear that.
No one said that every photograph should be "enjoyable" did they? - or make us think warm and fuzzy thoughts... This is an evocative photo for sure. Keep sharing your work with us, please!
AND - the background of the old tub and the old wall, done in B&W with the vignetting - all works for this scene really well.

The photographer's story line is that the lady is enjoying a drink after a day of hard work. But with a bit of imagination I can see a down and out woman about to do herself in.
So, Starving, does your work evoke emotions and thoughts? Yes indeed, and maybe more than you intended. And since true art means different things to different viewers I would have to say you have done well.

ALSO - in addition to what I said above - this is an interesting nude study because if you had just had a photograph of a hard-looking woman sitting at the table with a bottle of booze one's first thought would be "gee - that looks like a hard-looking alcoholic".... But being without clothes adds a touch of vulnerability that at least makes the viewer stop short and think a little bit. - As reflected by the comments here.
So - although it is not an appealing or attractive nude - it is a very powerful photo - so - a big "Well done" for you!

she's the type that Trump WOULD kiss. LOL
I think the more interesting part of this photo is what is not shown.
What is said on those many lines of the writing on her right side?
What is that wide, belt sized graffiti looking tattoo near the bottle top?
Is the Jack Daniel's bottle covering a really hideous tattoo that even Jessica is not proud of?
Since the image provokes thought, it must be a great photo......?
I really like this photo. It is artistic and thought provoking.
Artist, I didn't see into this image what you had to explain. I saw it strictly as what you showed, what was there, and how I views it and interpreted it. I look at it as an image and its various merits. I don't try to create a story to what I see, it has to evoke that story to me to be successful.
I don't know where you trained, or didn't, but the mantra at school was always, "no stories"!
Once the photographer speaks, the image is tainted from the original message that the viewer can construe. Kind of like the jury reading newspapers and tainting their judgement.
I would NEVER explain my images. If they can't stand on their own, they have failed as an image. I don't even give my models names.
I was in photo school just a few years ago and these types of images are very prevalent among young girls. That and pics with the bottles of pills strewn around to depict dependency. Do I find that disturbing......., not in the way it's presented.
These are called "socially conscious" images and especially for young people are still a strong part of their developing social consciousness.
I enjoy most of what you post. I always applaud when the envelope is pushed but sometimes an image just doesn't carry the message that the maker has attached to it. What you described is the environmental portrait, to tell a persons personal story using their personal surroundings through a silent(no stories) but evoking image that tells its own story. That story can be happy, sad, a struggle or however the photographer wants to portray. The skill of the photographer in doing that is what makes or breaks the actual success of an image standing on its own and telling its own story.
Anyway, keep up the good work and images. Always enjoy seeing them.
