Welcome to the Hog. I too can relate to your screen name tag....I'm starting to call myself "Kellogg" as when I get up from the chair or couch my bones go snap, crackle, pop. Have fun here

Good luck with your D750. I have one for about 3 years now and love it especially after putting the 24-120 lens on it. I have a ProMaster carbon fiber tripod that works very well with my D750 with all my lenses including my 200-500. It is small enough to fit easily in my luggage when I travel and is very lightweight, but sturdy. One leg unscrews from the tripod and becomes a monopod. So it is pretty versatile as I can use it in both modes. I'm sure you'll many replies here, but be sure you choose what works or you.

It's a good thing you said it was Garfield, I thought it was photos of Cal-Trans workers at work. They screw up traffic on every freeway in southern California, if not the whole State. Cute...thanks for sharing.

I live in a small 55 and older community with a small clubhouse that seats about 150 people. We don't have a real stage, so a raised dais is put in at the end of the room to be used as a stage, but we do use some LED stage lighting that is set up on either side and sometimes a follow spot, but not always. I shoot in raw with my D750 with 24-120 lens set at an ISO of 5000 or 6400, with a shutter speed of 125 to 160 at F5±. Yes, I do get some noise but a little Photoshop help and white balance help a little adjustment here and there I get some really great results. At these shutter speeds I rarely get so much motion the photo is unusable. A slight movement of a hand on a guitar actually in my opinion gives the photo more character. We don't get ballet's here, so I don't have to stop motion of a dancer, just a singer that may do a quick dance, but again, I've not shot a photo the was blurred so bad that I couldn't use it for motion....out of focus is another story all together. I do have some of those sometime, that is usually my fault or a the performer moved really quickly out of my focus range. All the photos of the event get posted on our community website and some are published in our monthly news magazine for our community. As a result of no flash, I can shoot multiple shoot but not in burst mode. During a live performance I don't have the time to shoot bracketing. So I shoot lots photos and throw out the bad and post or use the good ones. Good luck

I just checked a couple of these as I was curious....not the most exciting, but informative. I could see myself checking some of these out before my next road trip somewhere. Thanks for sharing...I've put this into my "watch" list for reference in the future.

I watch those same drag races on TV yesterday...well until my wife and I had to run to a dinner date with friends. Great shots. Although it has probably hasn't been as long as you since I was at the drag races, I was actually at the Winter National's drag race in Pomona 20± years ago. So, like you, they are still fun to watch. I have to go thru some old boxes of prints to see if I can find my photos from that trip to share. Even as I am getting older, I'm not racing, but I sure enjoy the thrill of watching especially live is the best...sound, the smell, the smoke...nothing like it. Thanks for sharing.

He currently shoots with a Canon DSLR with a couple of different lens that I'm not complete sure...I do know he has (I think he said) 18-70 f2.8 and something that goes to 300mm but not a fast. We both shot a junior high school honor society induction the other evening and he used the 2.8 while I used my D750 with 24-120 f4. I've yet to see his results, but my high ISO was a bit of a challenge to edit out. We were too far away in a gymnasium lighting to use flash for it to be effective. He travels a lot. His last trip was to Iceland. He's intrigued by the 3000 mm zoom. I'm not completely sure of the quality of a camera/photo that can go 24-3000mm. I'm skeptical myself, but thought someone at there has been using this and can tell me there true feelings of the camera, rather than listening to a salesman tell me about the features and benefits. I want a users opinion. Thanks for your help so far.

A friend of mine asked me about the Nikon P1000 and what I thought about it. I have really no knowledge or experience at all with this camera and was hoping some of you out there that might own this camera can give me your opinion. He's considering using this camera as his "travel" camera so he can eliminate taking several lens on vacations. So anyone out there with some insightful information, good, bad, stay away, quality of photos. etc. I would surely appreciate your input. Thanking you in advance for the info.

For those of us of a certain age might look at that sculpture and it might remind them of the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (the original 1951 version) and the robot "Gort". Interesting photo. Thanks for sharing.

I don't no your financial situation, but I did the same thing a few years ago...I went from D90 to first D7000 because of the lens I owned. I didn't like it and returned it...then the D7100 came out. I got the same results in photo quality and returned it. I waited saved a few more bucks and got the D750. I couldn't be happier. At first I had a 24-85 lens and traded it off for the 24-120 as my walk around lens. It has taken some outstanding photos in my humble opinion. I've had the D750 now just a couple of months short of 3 years and so far I haven't had an urge to upgrade to any of the latest and greatest gear. I shoot a lot of indoor event stuff here in my community at our clubhouse. Some of those shots are available light as it mostly likely a concert in the clubhouse. I'm super happy with my D750....good luck with your choice....by the way I still have the D90. My wife uses it from time to time, but mostly sits on the shelf. I loved the D90 too much to part with it and it makes a good back up in the event ?????
