Looking to get back into photography since I’m now retired. I have a D90 and would like current technology that is smaller and more portable. I have not seen a Nikon solution that is highly recommended. My current inclination is Sony a6300 or the newly released a6400. I like to have a prime lens and telephoto capability. As such, I’m not sure a fixed lens camera will work. Type of photography I like is landscape, travel, street photography, candid people shots not always staged. I used Lightroom for post production work. Comments would be appreciated.

I noticed this new model and initial reviews appear very good. Camera plus two lenses might be costly.

Olympus OMD e-M1 Mark II! I have the m5 Mark II and love it, the m1 II is more recent. I came from a Nikon d7000. My favorite lenses are the Olympus 25mm f/1.8 (50mm equivalent) and the Olympus 14-150mm II. Weather sealed (withstood Niagara Falls), 5-axis in camera stabilization that’s phenomenal, and a wide selection of Olympus and Panasonic lenses from which to choose.

You could switch to a Nikon D5600 or a D7200. I'm a Canon kid. You could switch to a Canon t7i which is small and lightweight. I am working with a Canon 5D Mark IV which is a generation above that. I do have a question. Would you like to donate your D90 to a High School's Photography Club?

I’ll look into Cannon as suggested. I was considering trading in the D90 to offset some cost but donation might work one I have my new toy.

I'm donating camera to my son's High School. He passed away 4 years ago.

The D5600 is really small and a great small camera. There are lots of very decent to great Nikon lenses available a very reasonable prices. I love my Sonys but good lenses are few and far between, very expensive for good ones. Also short battery life. The learning curve would also be much less than the Nikon.

What lenses do you have for your d90...

I have the Nikon d7200 and love it...your current lenses should work nicely with the d7200

If you want something that is smaller and lighter, take a look at the new Nikon Z6 or Z7. I rented the Z6 for two weeks recently and was very impressed. Its only drawback is that its autofocus system is not as good as the AF system in my D500.

Trade you D90 in for the Z7. Nikon would give you $400 plus the value of you D90 (which isn't much).

Completely fits the bill, except for the smaller and more portable part.
