All amazing. Would never think "weeds" could be this beautiful.
amyinsparta - your #1 is very interesting and creative. Thanks for posting.

I remember, as a kid, asking at the local gardening store, how the poison 'knew' which plants were weeds and which weren't. The owner's response was that weeds are only weeds when they are where we want don't them.

I've always loved dandelions, they had two 'blooms'. :)

The Dandy season is upon us and here in TN, they seem much bigger than last year. So get out there and get some shots of these beautiful, but aggravating, little darlings.

I like to play with my pics.

What a great idea and the pics are very well done.

Painted Buntings rarely show up at my bird feeders.

Unfortunately these weren't the best of photos but do show the coloration and difference between the male and female Buntings.

But you got them and that is more than I can say. I'm not much of a birder, although I was more of one as a kid laying in the backyard. It would've been so cool to see these first hand back then and now.

And there is always next time. Right?!

Our Lake Dam is overflowing and pouring into a nearby farm field creating a marsh-like area that these ducks like. It is also private land with a fence around it and I could not get closer than 250-300 feet to take these shots. All were at 600mm.

Nice! You've done it again. Especially at that distance! Any cropping or PP? Sort of a rude question, but I'm asking only in terms of what you get straight from that lens. And rumor has it that the Nikon mount is shipping mid-May!

Very nice! Usually these little guys won't sit still for a picture. Nad this one, well, "May I have another?"

What say you UHH's. my personal FAVORITE lens, so far, is my 100mm Macro by Pentax. There's NOTHING wrong with it. It's sharp and capable. It's my favorite.

Of all time? An old Asunama 75-270 w/macro on a Canon FD mount. No IS or AF. And for some reason, I didn't need it. With the Canon's AT-1 focusing screen and a power winder, it was well-balanced and sharp as heck. It still works just fine on the AT-1.

Digital? The Nikon 80-400 v2. I really shouldn't like it, but it has been doing some amazing things.

Sorry to hear of your loss, but happy to hear of your gain.

Bokeh = background blur (I hate this term!)

Bokeh is a qualitative, not quantitative, term, meaning pleasing blur and it doesn't have to be in the background. The subject could be in background with a pleasing blur in the foreground.

I'm not sure of the etiquette on uhh about posting pics in someone else's thread. I did go the weekend of 4/5 and the blossoms were only just beginning to show. I did manage to take a few of Mr. Jefferson just after sunrise. Shall I post here or start my own thread? I'd love to see other folk's shots.

I'll give you the facts. You be the judge. Then scroll way down in this post for the explanation and answer.

How'd you do, as our guest "judge?"

As soon as you said, 'Model', the answer was obvious. A yes to all three and rightfully so. You need a model release.

I highly doubt that the same thing would play out for street photography.

When this happen?

I don't have any equipment like light stands, strobes, etc. I just do what I can with natural light and Photoshop. This is my first try doing a portrait. My beautiful daughter-in-law was nice enough to humor me and allow me to take her picture.

Nice work. Beautiful model.

Anyone know of a program that will read png images and convert them to jpg? I've got about 90GB of restored files to recover.

I hear where you are coming from, had just got my Sigma 150-500mm and was at a city park that has a minature golf course and lots of fiberglass animals and a rock water fall that shoots up in theair and runs down the face.
I was trying to capture water in motion when the attendent came out and asked me to leave, wanted to tell her the camera alone cost more then she would make in 2 weeks and the lens in 2 months.
So from now on I don't go anywhere near where there are kids playing, bad you can't even enjoy what's supposed to be for you enjoyment at a city park.
Next thing we will all have to register our cameras and carry a permit to take photos.

This sounds like private property. We, as photographers, have no rights except what is granted to us by the owners, which can change on a whim. On public space anything is fair game. However, personally, I wouldn't take pictures of someone else's kids without their permission.
