Good Luck. Please post some of your shots, it is subject that interests me. I am leaving for Myanmar in a few weeks and hope to get some good shots there.
It all depends on the situation. I do a lot of shooting without asking...often shooting from "the hip" because I like to catch people as they look naturally not posed. If I am in close proximity and stick out as a tourist with a camera I do ask. I am always amazed at how readily people like to have their picture taken; especially if they get to see the results on the camera screen. The only time I have asked for the person to sign a release is here in the US or where English is easily understood. I will post a few posed shots sometime today. My suggestion if you are unsure is to ask.
I have a Digital Foci it is perfect for travel...it is not much bigger than a paperback. I have had it for three years and am very happy with its performance. I shoot raw. I am usually gone two months when traveling, so need the capacity.
I had one of the early models of the Epson, but due to expense opted for the Foci.
My favorite pass time when traveling is to take photos of people.

Great, I am going to post a few pics before the day is out.
Happy to see another uw photographer on the site.
Three years ago, prior to Christmas when I was writing for our local newspaper, I wrote an article on my search for American made products...believe me it was a tough assignment.
That aside, I have lived in Asia for a number of years so I have a small insight into how the Chinese conduct business. Yes, money is king...in America and in China. Products we purchase made by the Chinese are made by the cheapest methods possible and they will cut corners, cheat and go at any length to squeeze out every penny. This is why, in many instances the product looks good on the outside, but is not as advertised on the inside. Remember the pet food sold by Wal Mart...package looked good, but the product killed pets.
Same goes for the times I am in China; I always get the feeling that while everything looks great and everyone puts on a good face, but underneath it all there is a seething population yearning to be free.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you.
Love the photo...thanks for sharing.
Welcome to the forum. Stop thinking about getting those cameras out...get busy, without delay.
I too vote for #1...after you crop out the sign on the left. Number 2 shot is good too, but I like the depth in #1.
Looking for underwater photographers. I have been reading UHH for several months. I see there are many excellent photographers on this site. Thanks for letting me join in. I am shooting with an Olympus PEN ELP-1...I use it above and housed below the water. My other love is portraits of people when I travel.
