I had a Nikon 5300 that was about two years old with a little over 60,000 clicks but started experiencing shutter troubles at about 55,000 clicks, it was intermittent but there were times when the shutter seem to jam up and/or I had to turn the camera off and on and take a shot to clear the problem it seems like the gears were grinding

I have used borrow lenses and found them to be quite good one thing I found when using others they don't all offer insurance you definitely want insurance on those cameras and lenses in the event you break them drop them or whatever.

Many good responses here there are some pretty good deals on kits for the 3400 and 5600. I had the 5300 with the kit 18 to 55 and get 55 to 300. And find them to be a bit slow for bird action people might not be too bad. But I strongly suggest that they put each camera whatever the manufacture in their hand see what they like and rent them prior to purchase if possible. Because as someone once told me do you like ford Chevy or Chrysler most entry-level's from canon Nikon etc. are about the same, its all about how it feels your hand. how intuitive and ergonomically correct they are for the end-user.

I forgot to mention I'm told I'm a pretty good photographer and have a pretty fair Eye I'm not going to post any photos at this time as that's all subjective. And I more creative than techie not sure that I could do so even if I wanted to. I also forgot to mention I used to use a Nikon 5300 that was stolen and had some 60,000+ clicks on it but never felt comfortable with it and never felt the ergonomics to be intuitive to the likes of me anyway. Did put a Canon in my hand it wasn't bad. But the ergonomic knobs and easy to read Diles of the Fuji have got me a bit excited.

I'm looking into the purchase of potentially a Fuji and/or Pentax camera based on the weatherproofing, speed,ease-of-use, and and what I consider to be an intuitive and ergonomic layout. Like many of us here I shoot all types of photography from still to action, really enjoy my birds, and birds in flight animals at a distance etc. and an occasional car or motorcycle race. Curious as to the opinions and experiences of those who may have useed this camera and/or others and opinion on crop sensor to full frame for the speed and action aspect, frames per second quick auto focus etc.
And I'm expecting to pay five to possibly 10,000 for the appropriate equipment and lenses

You might consider some of the rental lens places and rent a couple and see what you like and the results and go from there

While taking a photography course taught by a seated judge I asked about taking pictures of people. Not necessarily people who happened to be in your photo. And he explained there are some fairly specific laws but when it comes to children like mentioned earlier just don't do it.

I think you might want to consider renting the various telephoto lens is Tamron 150 to 600, and or other lenses in excess of the 300 focal length of which you spoke earlier but remember for the most part they will be rather heavy.

I couldn't agree more I think Art although can somewhat be taught you either have an eye for photography or you don't in my humble opinion. But the technical aspect composition, thirds, that sort of thing can be taught but true art is he the rain you're not

But you are right and I was wrong about the price of the NIKOR pricing, but whether it is or is not a better lens is based on my use not opinion my use of each lens

I'm aware it's Nikon was simply voice texting you arrogant prick, and is your opinion based on fact or is it an opinion based on your arrogance. Have to admit I've met some of the rudest arrogant people on this site we're not all professionals were simply asking questions some rhetorical in nature some to enlighten ourselves and others who may not be aware.
