Hi Dave,

In addition to the information already received for weddings I suggest having (and following) a "shot-list" so you don't miss Aunt Mable or Uncle Harry who are important to the couple but you may not know well. When I was shooting weddings I always tried to get a family member who was not part of the actual wedding party to act as my guide on who needed to be shot (with a camera!). I notice the wedding is for your niece which may or may not require a guide based on how close you are to her (and the groom). Good luck and let us know how things go.

Hi Gails,

You've already gotten some great answers. In addition to those suggestions you can lighten the eyes in PS (CS or Elements). Select the Eliptical Marquee Tool (M) and draw circles around both eyes using the shift key to add the second circle arount the second eye. In the tool bar set the feathering to about 30 px to 50 px. Then press Cntrl (Cmd) L and do a levels adjustment to lighten just the eyes. I've saved a few less than good pix using this technique but nothing beats off-camera lighting/flash to improve eyes in portraits via good lighting. Take care & ...

Hi,

Now that I'm on the down-hill slide to 70 I find there are fewer reruns on TV. For some reason the shows seem familiar but I don't remember what happened. <G> Take care & ...

Hi shieldadvert,

I bought a Nikon D5100 from them and the sale went off without a problem however I did have to "endure" an upsale attempt to get the great price. I decided to go to eBay to purchase additional batteries, etc. but did have the opportunity to purchase them during the upsale attempt but was suspicious and didn't do so. I don't know if the upsale items were a good deal or not. Take care & ...

Hi Jerry,

I don't remember in reading your posts whether you have Lightroom or not but I've been very pleased with the results I get in LR3 along with a few tweeks in CS5 (or PSE10). Take care & ...

Hi Wanda,

Personally I like the Lamar Valley in the fall. Also in the cold morning the steam from the gueysers <SP> tends to freeze to the plants, trees & sage brush making for really cool frost-covered-items type shots. In October go prepared for any type weather from warm/sunny to snow (sometimes all in the same day). Take care & ...

Hi,

I had the same problem with my new D5100 and like you I quite disappointed in it compared to my D200 & D300. Then I found the "alpahbet menus" and I think is was picture controls where I found the sharpness set at a -3. I bumped it up and now I'm really happy with the D5100. I don't remember which menu and don't have the camera right now but I think it was one of the "f" menus but look for Picture Controls (or something like that). Take care & ...

Hi Jim,

Yes, my wife and I both tie and fly fish. Back in the 80's when I quite following rodeos I started a small fly-fishing business to operate in addition to my regular job in corporate American [District Manager for GTE (now Verizon)]. When we retired in 93 we both went full time on the fly-fishing business which includes, fly tying, guiding, photography, writing (books & magazine articles), product distribution/sales and featured-speaking gigs. We are now semi retired but still pursuing many parts of the business with less focus on product distribution. Take care & ...

Hi Jim,

Yes, I do know a little about rodeo. Back in the 60's and early 70's I rode bulls and bareback horses then continued to team rope (heals) until the 80's when I had to decide on a hobby and selected fly fishing because it was not as hard on my body as rodeo was (had been). During my rodeo days I also did quite a bit of rodeo photography using a Rolli-Flex (120/220) and a Speed Graphic (4x5). Take care & ...
