That is a european house sparrow. They are not native here. They were introduced when a ship from europe ran aground in one of the Great Lakes.

Then she's part of the problem with that type of rhetoric... and she's out of touch with the general liberal consensus.

But don't throw the baby out with the bath water ... there's room for sensible compromise.

There is no room for compromise until all of the bad guys turn in their guns.

I, like most liberals I know, have long scratched our heads in wonderment about where you get the idea that we want to take away everyone's guns. That's so far from the truth that it is almost impossible to even reply to.

Then it dawned on me... the idea, like most of the ideas that fuel the paranoia of the far right comes from other conservatives , usually the one's tasked with fund raising drives to promote conservative candidates.

Need political contributions? Just start the rumors and ring the bells of paranoia and watch the money and support roll in.

It's already started in CT. Our governor (Obama Jr.) wants so badly to be in Obama's cabinet that he's doing whatever it takes to be noticed by him. He just passed a law banning over 100 different common use weapons. That's just the beginning of the liberal movement. So hang on and remember that you have been warned.

What they voted on is to debate the bill.

You people should really try to read before you speak

Any bill that limits the rights of the people doesn't deserve a debate nor make it to the floor.

It seems that the history of our country has always been "2 Steps Forward - 1 Step Back". The liberal portion of society gives us the momentum to move forward. The conservative portion helps to insure that we don't get too far ahead of ourselves.

Just be thankful that we're not being led in the other direction, "1 Step Forward - 2 Steps Back".

Liberals are not forward thinking, they are self serving having the idea that what they think is superior to what anyone else believes. The fact is, government has no role in protecting you from yourself. It is not my role either. If you don't have sense enough not to do harm to yourself and not mentally challenged, I have no right to intervene. If you don't have sense enough not to do harm to someone else, you're likely to be staring down the wrong end of a weapon. But if liberals get their wish and remove all weapons, they would be free to do harm to others without the fear of being taken down by someone who is armed.
Hmmmmm ..... Maybe that's their whole plan.

What you guys don't realise is that it has been proved over, and over, and over again, that the best way way to make you and your families safer (assuming you do not live in a war zone) is to control possession of, or remove almost entirely, firearms.

Switzerland does have a high gun ownership, but they have the good sense to ,impose some of the strictest gun regulation of the Western World.

The individual right to bear arms is anachronistic and directly causes North of 30.000 deaths per year in America. The Founding Fathers did not envisage modern day America, modern weapons, or the idiotic vugilantism mindset which causes so many innocent deaths.

The right to bear arms has reached a point where the individual freedom is counter to the greater public interest, so, as has happened with the First Amendment, it needs to be changed.

The founding fathers knew exactly what they wrote and that it would stand the test of time. They purposefully did not mention muskets as they knew the weaponry would change through ingenuity. The only thing that needs to change is your location if you are so disturbed by something that is much older and wiser than yourself.

One of my CO's in the military was Col. Hunsucker. I don't remember many names, but this one was unforgettable.
