Whenever a black person was denied a job, admission into college, the right to vote, the right to sit where (s)he wanted on the bus, the right to eat at a lunch counter...the list goes on and on and a white person filled that gap unmerited privilege and advantage was granted. And the grant is continually renewed for generations because that white kid who got the job instead of the black one was able to send his kid to college so that he could get a decent job, own property and further his family's agenda. All while the displaced black kid was stuck with work as he could find it and was never able to send his kid to college. It's a never ending cycle. Own it.

You should be forced to purchase Lightroom. The difference between Lightroom and ACR is that Lightroom gives you more organizational tools. ACR has all the same tools as Lightroom does.

Lightroom, Smightroom. Get Corel Paintshop x6 and fergettabout it. Other than professionals, who really wants or needs to pay a monthly fee for software? It's insane.

OK guys, call off the war. We have a winner.
I decided to go with the Canon Pixma Pro-100 from B&H. Just ordered it, they claim it will be here by Thursday. That rebate will keep me in ink for a while at least.

Don't think you will be disappointed.

I have the Epson artisan 1430 for 300 dollars and the canon pixma pro 100 cost 500 hundred. Both are great printers printing up to 13x19. The canon seems to print slightly deeper color. But I like both printers.

Nice hands-on post, Bill. Thanks.

If you like big prints, DONT get a Canon. They do NOT have 11x14" in their print menu. You have to use 13x19" paper and trim. I have a Epson Artisan 1430 that I love and you can get a reasonable priced CIS that will save you a bundle on ink.

Huh? I would think 13x19 would qualify as a big print. No borderless 11x14 but it does have 11x17.

Compare those prices with those on Amazon.

Didn't I say this a page or so ago? Guess repeating makes it more credible like shooting someone in the head 10 times makes him "deader".

I would think someone told that kid the truth. All one has to do is to look at the history of this country to confirm it.

I have a Canon PIXMA Pro-1 printer and I use Canon paper exclusively. I find it produces sharper prints. For ink, however, I stick with LD Products. Their ink is every bit as good as Canon's for 1/3 the price.

All I can say is, good luck with that (LD ink). I certainly don't wish you to suffer the same fate that I and several in this thread have suffered with third party ink. But if you do, you would have been warned. Although the evidence that these other inks are eventually harmful might be anecdotal in nature, the issues surface too frequently to be ignored. I realize, of course, everyone does not live by "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" rule. As far as Canon paper is concerned, in my experience it is very good, but Ilford is better. Still waiting on my first order of Redriver.

Why don't we ever see anything about decent Muslims fighting against Muslim terrorists?

If terrorists are smearing their beliefs, why don't the good Muslims form huge armies to fight this insidious evil of radical Islamism?
Or even small armies?

You, my friend, are incredibly naive. Why do you think the media pushes stereotypes of many races and cultures? Think money. Think agenda.

I need a flash for my nikon d7100 ,. I'm hoping to not spend a lot of money !
Should I buy manual or TTL . Thank You any help would be appreciated.

May I suggest the SB700. Powerful, versatile and did not break my bank. More expensive flashes will get you higher guide numbers and a few more features. But dollar for dollar, the SB700 is one of the best. Google reviews and read for yourself. Not sure what you consider "a lot of money" but here is the Amazon site: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042X9L6A/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1#

Great and definitive question. Everyone else overlooked this critical point necessary in intelligently responding to the original poster.

Thanks for responding.

Tim, I'm with you also haling from the film camera era. However, even then I finally move into the Minolta Maxxum auto focus model. But these "new" DSLRs are a whole new ball game entirely. About the only constants are your eye and ability as a photographer. Don't get discouraged. take your time, learn a little at the time. Read portions of the manual at one sitting, not the whole thing. And most of all, get out there and take some pictures. I learned a lot more about my camera in the one week I took it on vacation than I had weeks before. But I had also methodically studied the manual over those preceding weeks. I'm still a neophyte but getting more comfortable every day. You will too. Hang in there.

most of what ive read from wedding fotographers suggest including a 70-200 mm lens to their equipment to take along on their wedding shoots...ive done it twice and came away sorely disappointed...i virtually had no use for it what so ever...but relied mainly on my 18-200 mm lens instead...can anyone tell me if and what they might use the 70-200 lens for, what instance?
Roque

Perhaps an 18-200 would prove more useful to you. I do strongly recommend a zoom except for posed shots where you have time to compose and focus.

I use a lot of printers Epson (best) and Cannon. I use CISS systems never run out of ink. I buy the CISS'S on ebay for around $50. with the ink. Also ink replacement there to. I got and Cannon MG6220 with the CISS a month age for $200. works great. This week end had a 500+ run of 4 x 6s great job.
Canon makes great paper but its to high for me, I use over a 1000 8x10s a month. HP also make good photo paper. Do not buy Kodak old paper. Old paper will not print well. O inkgrabber.com is a good place to buy ink. Great place to buy photo paper redriver.com is the best I've used, I think I've used every paper on the market today. The one I use for my costumers is 8.5 x 11 66lb polar pearl METALLIC FROM RED RIVER. Here's some links to save you time.

I been doing my printing for 5 years, print stamps to 13x19s, used over 50 printers and all the paper I can find. I put all this on here to save you time and money. I find to make a good print its most in the paper. If a printer starts massing up get a new one. I don't pay over $200. for the printers I have in house, I have 5 working and 20 for a year sell. Use EPSON, HP, and CANON ever day, the HP cost to much ink. Have 2 Mitsubishi printers that cost over $1,000 each, don't use them because of paper cost to much. The best printer I ever used is an Epson 1400 with CISS, Epson no long makes it but they have a Epson Artisan 1430 for $300. I think its the same, going to get it pay day.
You will like the printer you have it a good one, the best of luck to you. Billy Bob www.snapanprint.com

BB40, thank you for your very helpful information and sites. However, I took a look at inkgrabber site for the Canon pro 100. For that printer, Amazon currently has a better price.

Yep. I had the same problem with both the Canon printers I owned. Anything other than OEM ink and I had problems. I switched to Epson printers and never had a problem with "alternative" inks.

Interesting and a bit disconcerting. Epson makes a fine printer. But I do love my recently acquired Canon pro 100. Thanks for your response.
