Petapixel had an interesting article on the future of Lexar XQD cards. Lexar was sold by their parent company, Micron , to Longsys. Longsys was the actual manufacturer of Lexar’s XQD card and says that they will continue production of XQD cards.

If my memory is correct, there were some comparability problems with some Lexar CF cards with some Nikon, Cannon, and Fugi cameras, but that problem was solved and didn’t involve XQD cards. Their XQD cards have received excellent reviews. I’ve been using the 2933x 64 GB and 128 GB cards along with the comparable Sony XQD cards in a pair of Nikon D500 for a year (and more recently in a D850) without a problem.

I photographed home interiors for a real estate company in the film days so it had to be done in camera without HDR. Try setting your camera in manual and adjust the exposure to over expose the outside by one stop. Set your strobe for TTL auto and point it at the juncture of the wall and ceiling behind you. It requires a fairly powerful strobe but give it a try. I f you don’t overexpose the outside a little bit the windows will look like paintings hanging on the wall.

I love my Nikon D850 but I've learned a lot since receiving this fantastic camera: a) you have to bring your A game to the table b) you need great lenses. The individual that said Tony Northrup said to use the 1 x 4 rule with the D850 is correct; good rule to remember. Also, even though the 28-300mm is a great lens for my old camera (D750 which I sold when I received my D850), most of the pros will tell you it is perhaps too soft for the 46mp D850. I sold my 28-300 and was sad to see it go. After a lot of research, I purchased a few lenses with the D850 in mind: 1) Yes, the unbelievable, fantastic Nikon 70-200eFL 2.8. It's expensive but my oh my, it is RAZOR sharp. But, when using this lens, you must bring your A game to the table and use the 1x4 focal rule, ie.if shooting at 200mm, use 1/800 shutter speed or greateer even if VR is on 2) I wanted something on the short end and DxO Mark gave "better" sharpness grades to the Nikon 18-35mm than its more expensive and more popular 16-35mm. So, I purchased the 18-35mm and it too is razor sharp. This lens, however, has no VR but it is not needed with this lens. 3) I just simply did not like some of the negative comments on the 24-70e Nikon lens so instead, I purchased the Sigma 50mm Art. Yikes, it too is razor sharp and has no VR but again, not needed with a 50mm. I do follow the 1x4 rule with this lens too, i.e. shoot at 1/200 shutter speed or more for the most "keepers". If using flash, for example, and I shoot at less than 1/200, I'll get less keepers. So, no hard and fast rules here except: a) bring your A game b) best lenses which, unfortunately, are on the expensive side. Good luck with your wonderful camera and don't forget to get Steve Perry's e-books, one of which is on focusing which includes the D850. BTW, the pictures I'm getting from my D850 are, for the most part, unbelievably RAZOR sharp. I'm having a blast with this camera.

I used the 28-300 on a D500 extensively last summer and like the results so I gave it a thorough try out on my D850 and to my surprise, it did VERY well at all f stops other than f/20 and f/22 where it was nearly worthless. I needed an image for a background in a collage I'm making for a local coffee shop and I made that image with the 28-300 on a D850, hand held, at 1/100 of a second, f/6.3, ISO 250, 135mm. This isn't a lens test but it does give an idea of what the lens is capable of.

There is some softening in the corners, but the sharpness is more than acceptable for many uses. I also use the 10-24 f/2.8, 17-35 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8, 200-500 f/5.6, 200-400 f4.0, Micro Nikor, & 50 f/1.4 so I do have an idea about what some other Nikon Professional lenses are capable of.

I knew their had to be a logical reason for the design! It might also explain the design of the Denver Art Museum which has been know to cause vertigo.

I agree with the many who have suggested the Nikon 70-200 F/2.8. It is my favorite portrait lens and is very good for photographing animals or people.

I've been posting photographs of animals and thought I'd post one of something that stays still and gives you time to compose and focus. I took this photo of the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center in Denver that houses the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court for an advertisement. To my eye it's an imposing building but an odd amalgam of different architectural styles. Maybe Contemporary Classical Roman? ;-)

I'm using the Sony with my laptop and the Lexar with my desktop so I don't have experience with the AMALINK, but I would be very concerned about the high percentage of 1 star reviews. B&H expects to have more Sony XQD readers in stock in 7 to 10 business days. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1242140-REG/sony_qda_sb1_j_xqd_usb_adapter.html

You don't know that. The companies that have restocked may have received stock that had been on slow boats, for example. I expect you want a "reasonable" price; that's not compatible with their spending hours on the phone tracking down the {potentially few} middlemen who currently have some in inventory.

Does that mean you think it is ethical of a retailer to take orders for a product that they don’t have and not re-stock those items when they are available?

I don't know what makes you think Amazon can get a Lexar XQD card. Rumors of availability abound. But the cards have been back-ordered or discontinued by everyone.

I ordered a 64Gb 2933 Lexar card from Adorama, supposedly in stock. A couple days later, I got an email stating that it had been back-ordered. They keep advertising them, but they're still backordered. I cancelled and bought Sony cards. I now have a stock of them...but there is very little demand for them.

AFAIK, only Nikon is using them in their PRO camera bodies (and Sony in their video cameras). It is one reason to think twice before buying a camera that uses them.

Please re read what was written. It was A Sony XQD Card that I ordered. They are in demand but other retailers currently have them in stock. I ordered a Sony card being sold by Amazon. Amazon is apparently not interested in ordering the stock necessary to honor the sales they made. That, to me, is unethical.

Out of 93 orders, how many problems?

That's beside the point. Not filling existing orders when the product is back in stock with other vendors, and undoubtedly was available to Amazon at the same time, is the problem. Refusing to deal with the problem is the problem.
