I am tired of the old steel fire pits which rust in two years even when covered so found a more modern double walled stainless steel with air flow from bottom to top that when hot reignites non spent exhaust gasses and makes it smokeless...and much hotter. You can burn almost twice the wood in the same time as the fire is very concentrated. This wood was this fall's wood and not cured or dried either which makes it doubly amazing. Amazon just delivered. the rusty one is the old one that is headed for the landfill. Stainless won't rust so we are happy.

Nice flames shot in daylight on gray day with sony A7 and canon fd 70-210 f4 old film lens....

Had greyhound rescues for 11 years and now own a pair of fabulous 5 year old Borzoi's. Love the contemporary art work.

my male moving with a slow paced stride. these are big dogs...he is 88" from tail tip to nose, very athletic and powerful, can peel off the miles running a wolf down on their own just like this. hard to get the feelings in stills but this is my champion fabulous breeding male, Rom. his stepsister, Liliana, is not in these. their breed name before 1940 was Russian wolf hound referencing their breeding and heritage. these are BIG sighthounds who are perhaps the best overall athletes of the so called giant sight hound breeds and very intelligent and independent

shot with nikon d4 and nikor pro f 2.8 28-70 mm great lens in poor lighting as he moved from left to right.

at full speed their stride to the ground can be 18'....like I said...big dogs! he loves to play with his jolly ball too which is normally a toy for horses!

I have the equivilent short lens in the f 2.8 28-70 mm nikon pro zoom lens. Together plus a couple of fast primes at 35 and 50 mm f 1.4 form a good suite of very high quality lenses for me. I have a cropped sensor 300mm Nikon lens I can use to reach out more but I so enjoy the D4 full frame sensor and its unbelievably good iso range that I don't really try longer lenses. I had a Tamron zoom to 600mm I mastered but it was so much work to use well I actually gave it away to a much more patient nature photographer than I am who is a friend of mine.

These were shot at Dutch Gap's Wetlands in the conservation area a mile from my house with only a 200mm handheld lens from about 50 or maybe even 60 yards away as the geese flew using my nikon d4 f 2.8 80-200mm great lens hand held. It is a heavy rig at 7.7 pounds to hold but an amazing camera for sports or action. What impressed me was as always how precise and symmetrical these birds gracefully fly for such large birds. We occasionally have migrating white swans come through which are larger but they don't come where I can photograph them. These images aren't the grabbed with a 600 mm lens detail but for the symmetry of them flying...quite a pair of Canadian Northern Geese amongst many others right now along with Shoveler and Mallard ducks and I swear one canvasback female for the first ever sighting of one for me....a regular drive by for me are these wetlands along with MANY other better photographers than I am. These are highly compressed as well.

The mallard couple was moving along in the wetlands area at Dutch Gap Nature area yesterday while two Canadian Northern Geese were practicing their water ballet........shot with nikon D4 and f 2.8 80-200 mm camera hand held through the suv window. We also saw granny and gramps riding their bikes on the Capitol City Bike trail which is a super 55 mile long bike path that is well used.

Three random shots...I got a used like new maxi scooter a Yamaha Morphous that gets 65 mpg and goes up to 80 mph with stability (441 #'s and 250 cc dohc water cooled engine and cvt tranny) after selling my road motorcycle and love to watch my 88" long male, Rom, when he gets going in the back yard...the shells or beach detritus are from a beach on brackish tidal James River at Claremont, Va.

These large, hybrid scoots are very capable and will leave most cars and trucks at stop lights, carry some goods in their storage and get good mileage. Very popular around the world because they work in places where gas is $5-10 a gallon or hard to get.

Happy Thanksgiving one and all, savor something every day, big or small but savor it.

Nice shots. How on earth do you hand hold an 800mm lens shot at 1/320th and get that clarity? I am 6'4" with long arms and my single biggest failing is being able to hold a long lens still with those arms no matter how I brace myself. What is your secret? Posture, muscle training, special position? Please share how you get a hold like that. I had a 600mm lens I gave away as it was too much work to use tho I did master it with a huge solid tripod.
